Default SOLVED THANKS

Okay guitar players. I am not really very happy with the current distortion sounds I'm getting. I'm sure they must get better than what I'm hearing thus far.

A COUPLE OF THINGS....
1) Why do I get an overdrive sound as soon as I plug my guitar in? I changed the R24 interface to clean on my input channel 1. Still overdrives? That's before I've added any of reapers inbuilt effects.

2) have tried guitar rig 6 doesn't seem to do a lot for the over all sound? I tired the SLT ignite free download. Again just overdrives without a quality sound. What VST's work for you for distortion?

3) Perhaps I could use the boss metal pedal I have and run that into the interface? But again if I have an existing distortion (by default as explained) adding to this just ruins any real good tone.

4) what are the guys doing on Reaper who are creating rock/metal music I bet there are some killer tones to be had! Please enlighten me!

Cheers

PS: I just added the Nasty DLA so far thats pretty cool!

are you going into a hi-z input?
have you tried turning down the gain on the interface?
have you checked you have no distortion fx in the chain? maybe hiding in the monitor fx or onboard on the interface.

Regarding Ignite etc. - an amp sim will invariably sound rubbish unless you follow it with a cab sim.

PS It is better to leave the original thread title and just add "(Resolved)" to it. That will help others with a similar issue.
