Item - Build peaks

I'm not sure if i understand this

To test this
Basically I tried to limit an item so that it gets clipped....


and i'm selecting, item - rebuild peaks and build peaks

i was expecting some peaks to be recreated again on the waveform

but seems nothing is happening? what does Item - build and rebuild peaks do?

Peaks in this case is referring to the peak file where the visual waveform is stored. It does nothing to the audio.

It's only needed if your waveform is not matching your audio (maybe you edited it outside of Reaper) or you lost the waveforms.
