Default Snare mic stand (UK).

Anybody recommend a decent, compact snare mic stand available in the UK? I'm struggling for space, so the full size boom that I use needs to be replaced with something more compact.

I use SM57, so the base of the stand wants to be heavy enough to not fall over with the mic in place.

Clips aren't any use since they seem to put the mic in the wrong place on the snare.

I'm using this cheep low profile mini-boom on my snare with an SM58 that has no foam inside the ball.

You can see where it puts the SM58 in this pic.

I just searched for short boom mic stand and a whole bunch just like that one came up. Should be able to find lots like this in the UK.

Note: I have my snare pretty low (25" on the mic side), so you might want to look at ones that have an additional telescoping section if your snare is much higher than 25".

K&M do some nice short mic stands w/ telescopic booms. Studiospares stock them.

[EDIT] or you could just buy the telescopic boom if you've got a suitable base.

I love(d) K&M, I have 15 or so of their stands, but in the last few years their boom stands "creep" with any weight at all on them. It's like you can't tighten them enough.

I have some DR stands from 2012, they are still great but sad that K&M is not the K&M of 15 years ago, their build quality has dropped a notch.

I've got a few (30yr old) K&M stands and they're good. I wonder if they've changed the washer material in the swivel joint? I expect they'd sell you an additional counterweight to make up for that

I've no idea how easy the DR Pro stands are to buy in the UK. If the OP doesn't want to pay £40 quid for a stand, Studiospares also sell their own brand line (chinese knockoffs?) at very attractive prices. But they do ship via DPD, who are (in my experience), rather unreliable & terrible liars. (No, you didn't try to deliver it, I was in, you didn't try to deliver it again, and you didn't take it to the collection point either)
