Default Yamaha THR

Has anyone used the Yamaha THR recording interface/amp with Reaper? I'm curious as to how it presents itself as in interface - it looks like it can send a DI and processed signal in parallel to the DAW which would be very handy (could reamp the DI signal later if required etc). Any experience here?

Yes, it's very convenient as a portable solution.

/ wow, it feels surreal to try to write a "non-COVID related" post.

Yep...it's 4 in 2 out if I remember correctly.

1/2 are the amped and 3/4 the DI.

Sounds really handy then.

Yeah if I get lost in some recording I forget about it for a while. Then I stop...

Yes, and I also like the choice of being able to choose wet or dry inputs. In general, I use the dry, as the THR's tones seem to be optimized for its speakers rather than as a general amp sim.

My only difficulty with it is that when tracking into Reaper (or presumably, any DAW), you have to monitor everything through the THR's speaker (or phones) rather than your usual recording interface.

I've read you can get around this by using ASIO4All and turning your recording interface and THR into a single, virtual device, but haven't found a way to achieve this yet.

Great, thanks. So to be clear, when you're recording you can record to two tracks, one processed and one DI, via the USB?

I've never tried to record both simultaneously, but due to the fact they appear as separate inputs in Reaper, it would definitely seem like that would work.
