This isn't my cup of cointreau, but it was really nice to listen to but as a guitar player I would wish for some power in the solo violins, but this isn't rock'n roll

Hi Mikael.
I use to be a rocker,...long time ago.
I prefer quieter things now. Some of my pieces are sometime more powerful, but not that much.
Thanks for your comments and listening anyway.
Bye.
_A cup of Calva maybe ? ;-)

Hi Prom.
Yes, Scottish weather might not be that different from mine in Normandy this days.
BR was part of a little "contest" we've done with friends on another forum. Trying to illustrate the 1982 movie "Blade Runner".
Thanx for the comments and listening.
Bye

Track worx for me as accompaniment to work by guy who wrote this - "Almost nobody dances sober, unless they happen to be insane."
Set fire to a shot glass of that delicious apple brandy and pour over tarte.
*Do not burn down ones home in the process !
Liked it Jeranx

Hi Prom.
How is it in Scotland these days.
"Never sober, never dancer" I should say.
I used to for maybe 1 or 1.5 year around the Ska music arrival. This rhythm was telling me something when I was 16 or so.
Since then, no dance. As a former drummer, I'm always dancing inside or at the tip of my fingers and toes.
Thanx for your kindness and poetry.
Next week maybe, Bye

Jeranx,
I like your placement of video within window in still image.
"Last piece, last dress. Not consistent, not very precise, but well laughed." wtf? Translation or Completely Lost In Translation?
You sound inside TV/Film --> drama/documentary.

Hi my scottish friend.
I sometime use Deepl Translator but my English being not so bad, I try to make some spiritual sentences by myself . Despite I'm not that accustomed to this media and software, I'm trying to do my best with Resolve to produce some funny or maybe interesting things to watch. I've just discover how to make a part of an image to disappear so I wanted to try it and those windows looks kind of appropriate.
Unfortunately, lot of people says that I'm doing more like a movie scorer, but I'm still trying to be a music writer.
Anyway, thanx for your kind comments.
Bye.

First thing that struck me was the weird waveform. It's so flat but there's still those big peaks.
I think orchestral music benefits from a lot more dynamic range. Maybe some master track volume automation to make the climactic parts louder?
It's got some good atmosphere. I like the end best.

Hi Fox.
You're probably true about the volume. Some of my pieces are a bit louder. But this is supposed to be more intimate, only a few (7) solo strings.
But you're right. Usually, after the mix is finished, I go to the Master track and play with Tempo and Volume. This time, only the tempo was modified. In fact, I'm very new to this universe and I'm a little shy by nature and always afraid of making it too loud.
Thanx for comments.

New thing,
for those who are not following the french policy these days, that was the tagline of our wonderful, marvelous president. Just a private joke with a penfriend.
Now, strings again, with brass near the end.

Hi Scotty .
I'm sorry you experiment those problem. I have to agree that Hearthis isn't the best place to listen to music. They have their good sides but on the stream side...., I've seen sometime trying to listen to my last upload on Hearthis with no success and switching on Souncloud,
( https://soundcloud.com/thierry-vastel),
seeing that it's working very well. Unfortunately, this one is full for its free part and I had to upgrade to continue uploading, and I didn't want to pay, so I switch to Hearthis.
I'm living in the countryside, and my internet connection is ...4G and not very stable. With the storm, tonight, no TV (satellite) and no internet for half an hour. I wasn't able to find your mail, or I should have send it to you. Try private if you like.
Have a nice evening, Bye

They must have been reading because it's working perfectly now.
On the move is En mouvement without stopping.
Enjoyed it,instrumentation sounds authentic but still quite abstract.
Salut !

Although I do like some classical, I do not listen much nowadays as I appear to be mainly focused on my own (current) genre of music.
I listened to Le Lièvre et le Poux and En marche and enjoyed both... Very clean and very well played although I cannot determine if you record the real thing or use VST instruments. Either way, I love the clear and clean mixes you create.
cheers

Hi Andy.
Very kind words.
You're particularly nice to say that you can't see the difference between VST and real instruments. Thanx to Spitfire Audio.
I'm quite happy with some of my last pieces. Those since last xmas when the "HoHoHo" guy brings me those strings. Only seven years I'm in it, since I stop my job. I was mostly repairing houses.
I've been to your YT channel. Great universe there too. It's amazing to see you "playing" one hand in the pocket for such a great result. 19 mn isn't that long.
Happy thursday.
Bye

Excellent, and thanks
Yes, not much skill there, I'm afraid. Much of the effort goes in before the take, setting up the patches and the sequences. Then it just needs the one hand to twiddle a few knobs and select a new sequence.
I have lots to learn, yet, and there is no way I could take my system out for a live gig. I really need to use both hands and at least make it look like I am doing something
cheers

Hi Andy.
Morning on my planet.
In my youth (I'm so old), I've liked some synthesizer works. I grew up with Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze, even Jean-Michel Jarre, Pink Floyd for sure, Tangerine...
I don't know if we can say those were doing ambient music. I didn't knew this word at that time, anyway. To be honest, I discover it (the word) only about 2012 when I start doing PC music after my health conditions force me to stop working and then began posting on the french Forum.
I was taught by a guy who is (for me) a master in synthetic music.(a link to his sound below). A really great musician whose knowledge helped me a lot to start "playing" classical music that way. I hope you'll like his sounds.
I had a guilty conscience when I stopped working after 30 years of good and loyal service in masonry. People knew me as a brave and strong craftsman, and overnight I was on my couch eating morphine.
I reassure you, we're really doing something, actually.
Bye Andy

Pretty much the same here.

Very much the same for me. Even though I have in my collection works such as Eno's Music for Airports, Cathedral Oceans by John Foxx and Jarre's Waiting for Cousteau the term "ambient music" was not a thing to me. And I was only really turned on to this genre when I happened across the ambient online forum back in 2015. And that is when I turned much of my efforts onto this form of music.

Ah, yes, I have had a small number of interactions with Bernard over at the ambient online forum, where he is a member. So I am familiar with some of his creations. An accomplished musician it seems, unlike myself. I rely mostly on being able to fix my bad playing before I release it upon the world...

I can certainly understand your feelings about having to stop work, especially if the choice was not yours. I would imagine that it would take some time to adjust.

De choses...
Hi there.
Mostly Prom and Andy these days, but the other are welcome.
Another try, like a quartet with a synth (Pedal Pads, free from Spitfire Audio LABS), from the space...

Enjoy it, nice Sunday everybody.

Hi Andy.
And thanx for this comment.
This Freebie I'm talking about is really inspiring. I might go this way for a while. Bernard says it looks like a Mahler adagio. Hum hum hum... .
It took me only yesterday to do this, not that I'm so proud being that fast, but to say that ambient music protocol isn't there and here* I explain why I've done this

Hi Scotty (don't you mind ?)
Thanx for everything.
Hopefully, as the "owner" or maybe parameters, I don't have the shuffle thing and I prefer. Sometime, I listen to my Hearthis page for a while, to see how it is to listen to a full LP of "myself" and it's a bit difficult for me to go back too far .
Bye, I have some meat to eat.

Last pieces
Hi there.
Having been a bit busy these days. It was so hot. So I produced a lot
Here is the result of this heatwave.
Following Andy's advice, I revisited the last one, made it a bit longer.
https://hearthis.at/thierryvastel/et-dautres/
Also another thing, a calm one, 34 ° that day.
https://hearthis.at/thierryvastel/jverrais-plus-tard/
Then, still with strings, something a bit more alive.
https://hearthis.at/thierryvastel/xxxyyyzzz/
Tired now, going to bed.
Enjoy, Bye.

Good evening jeranx,
Et-dautres extended version works to my ears.
"I'll see later (for the title)" If I lived where you live, the regions history would never be far from my mind.
I have got a different impression of hearthis.at ,now that it is working well for me...I might even sign.
Quite tired now but stayin up cos that's how I roll..like a newb in a veterans greatcoat.

Hi Mick.
I'm happy you enjoyed those.
Yes, in "...et d'autres.", I wanted the cello to live a little more, and keep the atmosphère standing a bit. (if I'm clear).
BTW, what do you mean by "now that Hearthis is working...", had problem with it ? For me it's a cool place to be. I left Soundcloud cause it was full in its free version. Here, no limitation for uploads.
Still rolling too...
Bye
Edit : I saw what you were talking about with Hearthis, never mind what i said but upload things if you have. And thanx for the kind comments

Hi Mick.
(now with a face )
Thanx for this comments.
You're right, I don't think every piece I've done is "of that level". (I was waiting for the first comment to say something like that )
To be serious, I've paid a big attention to the seats and reverb, and I've been very much helped to that by Bernard Reeb, the guy we were talking about with Andy in this very thread. He knows things.
And after a bunch of mail and 35 versions, I have obtained that .
I'm sorry you're experiencing those issues with Hearthis. I have a poor connection myself too but not that kind of problem with audio. (but they are not the best on this site).
Have a good day.
Bye

Hi Thierry
I've not been checking in here for a bit, so I'm just catching up with some of your latest creations.

Remind me, Thierry, was all of this piece created with LABS?
I must say that, since downloading all of the LABS instruments I am having lots of fun with it. Some of my latest experiments are being done with just LABS and a few extra effects.
Liking this one too
Lovely little piece, full of fun.

Lots of feeling to this one. And I get an undercurrent of the Far East here.
Well, all caught up now, I think. It has been a pleasure listening to your classical snippets
cheers
