@justin: you should rename it to "Path to save media files" (to make it more clear which type of files are meant with this option)

preferences -> media -> store all peak caches in alternate path
I'll be damned! And I thought I had checked all the options! Thanks for the tips!

Cheers!

note: if you want a subfolder automatically, you just need to enter "Audio" under

project-settings -> path to save files

for example and reaper will create a "Audio" subfolder in your project folder

Ah, of course, that makes sense

Thanks for fixing this one - With this one, Reaper just crossed the line from "interesting program to keep an eye on" to "Nick's serious long term DAW contender". Awesome

If you ever make your way to Tasmania, I owe you a beer

How, when exporting/saving a MIDI file (written in REAPER) from the editor, include that file's tempo map?

When I use an external MIDI editor, that editor correctly reads the time sig changes in the created MIDI file, which is fine.

But when saving the file, and loading it in another app or REAPER itself, there's no recognition of a tempo map / tempo changes. Did I do something wrong, forget something?

I don't think it is possible yet.

Saving the midi item from the editor as a MIDI file, I mean. As a MIDI file, I'd hope, that will be recognized as a multiple tempi MIDI piece by other apps or REAPER itself...

Default some clarification

Midi Editor Grid

The snap parameters can function in two ways
1- as a division of the bar
2- or as a multiple of that parameter

If you search the hot keys and find
-Grid:Multiple Grid Size by 2
-Grid:Multiple Grid Size by 1/2
-Grid:Multiple Grid Size by 3
-Grid:Multiple Grid Size by 1/3

This gives infinite subltely of manipulation of time, sure if this is not your major concern, it may be over the top, but if you appreciate poly-rhythms and poly-metrics eg two superimposed Time signatures, say 9/16 and 5/7, you will know where i am coming from.

The thing is at the moment this is not very clear, because the same representation of the parameters do not give any indication as to how the numbers are functioning as either a multiple of 2 or 3 or 1/2 etc which can lead to the same parameter giving differing grid appearances!!

and i suspect there are still things to work out, maybe still problems with multiples of odd numbers etc

The concept in my opinion is very cool and instantly transparent
and very intuitive once you understand it, but i think, that some how maybe either different box's or different colors of the parameters should indicate the procedure of multiples etc

P.S the reason for the above explanation is that a parameter, for example 1/4 can have different grid divisions depending on the procedure used, as noted above

Two images illustrate

1- is just a simple grid of 1/4
2- is the parameter of 1 from the grid and using a multiple of 1/2 till it becomes 1/4

As you can see the grid divisions are different

its a "small thing" and because of my old p4 2 ghz , i didn´t knew if i posted or not, but remember reading for people with old pc´s to report about performance ,so ..
i notice since beta 4, or 5 or 6, 7 (?), can´t remember , if i use the default theme , clips get some glithcs when being resized and when moving, its not that much ,but it can be seen the difference when i choose other theme, classic, drivel, etc..
thanks.

May I also recommend Olympia OCD574, Colin Stone playing Shostakovich piano sonatas 1 & 2, Five Preludes (1920-21) and the 24 Preludes Op.34 - as recorded and edited by yours truly back in '95. Best piano recording I ever did. Hard to find now I guess.

No comment from me on Beta 13 - all this fancy midi stuff goes right over my head!

No, that's other genres, like grunge. Prog-rockers are more likely to sing off-meter, or not sing at all!

wow. anything tougher than 4/4, 2/4, or 3/4 is MATH rock?

since we're defining prog rock, here's my definition: semi-complex pop music with meter, harmonies, lyrical themes and other self-indulgent or pompous content, designed for male undergraduates who are too shy/geeky/socially-challenged to be at the res dance grinding it out with a hottie to the sound of whatever's pop at the time.

(grudgingly raises hand. That was me. I got better, and married, thanks for asking)
