In AATranslator you would use the "Send Output to.." option to select a specific folder or the folder containing the source OMF.

You don't necessarily need OMF/AAF to get the audio out of a Video editing program.

My dislike of OMFs lead me to build an XML based workflow for REAPER that supports FCPX, FCP7 & Premiere. It has been heavily tested on TV series and features for a while now. Lightworks and media composer support is in the pipeline soon.

It can even reconform the REAPER project to a new Visual edit so no need for picture lock.

http://vordio.net/reconform/

It does more than just translate a project directly too. It organises the project nicely (so takes account of roles in FCPX etc) & adds anything useful for the sound editor using metadata from the video project. It colour codes items to make it easy to spot repetition and audio that has similar issues to solve. OMF handles drove me crazy so my tool extracts whole streams with no handles. So you can easily go looking for that bit of silence anywhere in the file.

I keep adding new features (and take requests) so I just added this to show scene and take as item notes because that was useful to me.

I am also working on some REAPER extensions that will make clever use of the metadata from the video project, from shot notes or BWF metadata etc.

It is currently mac only but a windows version can be made if there is enough demand.

I would be supportive of a windows version. I do work with FCPX users and being able to read and reconfirm would be a big asset.

You can already do this for your situation if the vision editor is using FCPX.

Just run Vordio on their machine (FCPX is mac only anyway which is why I started with Mac only support). It needs the media online anyway so Mac formatted drives are the main obstacle for windows users.

Vordio produces a self contained REAPER project folder with all the audio copied and transcoded.

That REAPER project created will run on Windows or Mac. They just zip it up and send you the folder. When you want to reconform just send them back the RPP, then they reconform and send that folder back (it will contain any new media).

It only seemed sensible to do a Windows version recently when I added Premiere support as that is multiplatform. Same goes for Lightworks (they have promised to get their XML export working for Lightworks V12.5)

Vordio needs to run on the video editing machine (media must be online for Vordio to be able to transcode and copy relevant media into a format compatible with REAPER). i.e. Video programs support more file formats than REAPER so some media needs transcoding to be useable. One example is CAF audio files which are often seen in FCPX project but REAPER doesn't support them. Vordio converts those to WAVs.

For a windows version I need windows test cases i.e. films edited in Premiere on windows. It is only really worth it for Premiere at the moment as FCPX doesn't run on windows and Media Composer doesn't export XML.

I have tested Premiere support on Mac as I had access to large films edited on Mac in Premiere with access to the media. (I can test some things with media offline i.e. XML only but not every thing).

If I add EDL support I could also support Media Composer (I have been experimenting with EDL but again need good testcases and it is nowhere near complete yet). MC is both Win and Mac so would be worth it.

So the bottom line is if plenty of sound editors deal with Windows Premiere editors at the moment then it would be worth doing a windows version very soon.

Feels a bit odd to quote myself but I just made a video of the experiment I mentioned above. It actually worked really well.

I use video project metadata in this 3 min demo video to pull in alternative takes for a scene (from the rushes) as audio item takes in REAPER. That way you can comp takes like you would in music for word replacements.

That DLL is old and unsupported.

There are good reasons to avoid OMF these days if you can help it. There are a number of advantages to using XML instead.

However, if you must use OMF then AATranslator will convert OMF to REAPER for you.

At the moment it works like this: I've written a small app that converts OMF files into a SQLite database which can be opened with Reaper afterwards. The converter is still Linux-only because it makes heavy use of POSIX-specific stuff like memory mapping but I'm going to set up MinGW or something to create a Windows executable that'll be launched automatically from within Reaper so everything works seamlessly.

Looks like I have to re-write the converter almost from scratch if I want to make it a single Extension DLL without additional files but that's actually a good way to get rid of the last pieces of the GPL code I based it on.

The import plugin still needs some fine-tuning, the volume values don't look right (could anyone open the sample files in another host and report the right values?) and I have no idea yet how panning information is stored. I'm not going to implement OMF1 since it's way too different from OMF2 and I also haven't had much success regarding endianness conversion - I don't think it's important anyway.

The big question is, do we need OMF export? OMF is a legacy format and we're already able to export projects to other hosts using stem rendering, so I doubt it's worth the work. Maybe AAF export makes more sense.
what theme is this ?

I use AAtranslator on a Mac, worked on HS and now I'm on Mojave. You can install it with the free app Wine or Wine bottler. You get instructions when you buy the app on how to install on a mac. It's been great for me, and well worth the money IMO if you need OMF support.
