Default What MIDI bytes does Keyboard/MIDI/OSC dialog sense?

In this Kenny Gioia video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVPVY7LYAMs at timestamp 3:15, he assigns a HW controller's fader to an Action. It's clear Reaper's "Keyboard/MIDI/OSC input" dialog senses the controller's MIDI CC messages.

I'm trying to configure a Novation Launchpad MINI MK3 to send MIDI note OR CC messages to accomplish this Action assignment. No arrangement of bytes I have the Launchpad send via USB MIDI are recognized by this dialog.

Does anybody know what byte string (or byte format in general) is recognized? Thanks.

An image of said dialog is in this thread: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=237235
