Not in any rush to upgrade this from studio 4, their development has slowed down massively over the last couple years.

By logging in into your account and choose to download the update.
If you can't find it, then it might be under license options.
I just did it without paying too much attention, so I already sort of forgot..hehe sorry.

Definitely upgrading as soon as I have the funds available.
Some wonderful features added in the new version.

You probably worked it out but if anyone else is as confused as I was:
You have to upgrade your license in licensing options, but then you need to ignore the download buttons right in front of you and go back to the product page and the download for 5 will have replaced 4.

I've been using it (ver. 4) with Reaper with no problem!

No, I think it's compatible. However I suspect the trouble comes from projects that already have Melodyne 4 on them.
I just opened an instance of Melodyne 5 in a project, saved it and restarted Reaper, and it works just fine.
I haven't used Melodyne since I came over from Cakewalk Sonar two years ago. So I have no Melodyne 4 projects running with Reaper.
Oh, and I did a clean install of Melodyne 5, there was no version 4 on my PC.

Just did a test here as well with the 5 demo (no Melodyne instances on that project before). No problems whatsoever.

To get the chord track from Melodyne 5 into Reaper
Export > Format > Lead Sheet(.mid)
ReaTrak chords from midi item.lua

In any case, ReWire is obviously quite practical,
no need in deprecating the feature..
But it's clear the engine/algo has been improved considerably,
at least as far as transient detection goes..

Of course as well Rewire as VST2 are very viable interfaces. But for something that features ARA2 and VST3 why would you additionally need those ?

Dang. Just tried it out on a session for shits and giggles. That sibilance detection/balance feature is just amazing. That alone is well worth the upgrade price.
Note recognition greatly improved in the new version as well.
Haven't tried out the chord "map" thingy yet, but I can see that being very useful.

So, does Melodyne 5 overwrite the Melodyne 4 dll?
Is so, it sounds like this is a "no go" until we can open old projects that used Melodyne 4 :-\
I think there is a 5.0.1 - don't know what it fixes though.

Yep. It replaces the Melodyne 4 plugin.
Haven't seen anything about an update anywhere, so for now I'd wait if you're in the middle of projects using version 4.
5.0.1 is the current version I think.

Melodyne - Version 5.0.1
This free update fixes a bug that could lead to sound artifacts when using the “Separate Notes as Trills” command. We recommend this update to all Melodyne 5 users.
Y'all.

Thanks - I'll hold off until we have a fix (maybe it's a Reaper issue?) for this.

I Just renamed the Melodyne 4 vst32 vst64 vst3 before installing 5, I renamed the standalone but it deleted that so you would be best to move it to a safe place first.
But I can run either 4 or 5 vst.

Man, this is so tempting..... I bought Melodyne 4 Assistant just 2 days before 5 was announced. I assume from the increased base prices of each edition, that they won't extend a grace period offer, but I'm more than okay with paying for the upgrades....
On the other hand..... I'm still running Windows 7 on my DAW and I'm really apprehensive about updating to Windows 10..... How easy is it to revert to 7 if I have issues and will it revert without a lot of software re-authorization?

I can confirm that my Melodyne 4 sessions load just fine with Melodyne 5 in Reaper. I upgraded in the middle of a few projects and they all retained my edits.
