Default Show me your toolbars

Hey guys, just interested to what people from the community have done with toolbars, would be nice to have a screenshot with a small explanation.

Would be cool to get ideas from your creations

hopi, how do you get the tabs like that? Can it be done with any theme?

valy... I'll tell you but then you'll owe me a free lunch...

OK two parts to the answer:
1- the graphic look is from the png files inside a given theme..
I modified mine so that they appear orange when active...
also altered the shape a little to have those beveled ends...

2- the title or name part is done in the editor for menus and toolbars
at the top, just to the right of name fiied, usually un-noticed, is 'thing' that says "retitle"... OK clk that and enter a name, ...I used names like
1 MAIN TOOLS, 2 WHATEVER, etc. etc. Save the TB's [always do that]
Then restart reaper and your names will show up.

3- I have the docker for the TB's up top... so make and locate a toolbar in the docker and put it where you want it... then rt clk in that docker and open another TB and then put it in that same docker...

NOTE: I set that docker to NOT show the 'close X' on the tabs so I don't accidentally remove them... and then you can drag each tab into the order you wish.

What's for lunch?

OK, I think I got it...

I can live without the cool graphics, I'm not a Photoshop guru like yourself. But I see now how you got the tabs up there and how to rename the tabs.

Question: How do you remove the "X" on the tabs?

Also, is there a way to force the buttons in each toolbar to start from the left instead of being centered?

As far as lunch...I have some burgers I made earlier, you are welcome to a few xD

rt clk on a tab or on the docker to find that option to remove the Close X

They do start from the left, but if don't have a lot of things in the TB they don't seem to.... so the trick is to add a shit load of no-op actions and if you want to ..assign the blank icon to those

thanks...sounds good ...but sadly I'm a vegetarian...

So after much searching, I eventually found the most secret menu that exists in Reaper:

Very nice, hopi. I don't even know Reaper well enough to have that many toolbar buttons yet!

reaper allows us to have up to 16 TB's on the TCP and 8 in the MIDI Ed.
Plus the "Main Toolbar" that normally resides just above the Tracks in the TCP.
You can have them all showing as I do even if there is really nothing in each one [well if they are empty, leave the Edit Me in there until you add things]

I would offer a bit of advice as you start messing with TB's.
Make it a habit to save them [Export] two ways:
1- Export All I name that like so: Hopi's ALL TB's
2- Also save each individual TB [Export Current...]
so each one gets a file name like:
Hopi TCP TB 1, Hopi TCP TB 2, etc. up to 16 and also Main.
then...
Hopi MIDI TB 1, etc. up to 8
I would do that even if they are at the moment empty.
have fun...

Thanks for the tips! I'll back them up as you suggest.

I'm pretty big on backing up my Reaper configs anyway, but the problem is that I have Reaper on three different computers (used one at a time, of course). I haven't worked out the best way to import/export so that I can keep certain changes consistent across all computers but keep some things different.

I know you can selectively export things in the configuration, I just haven't had time to work out the best approach yet. But I'll figure it out eventually.

TCP Toolbars:

Hey hopi, I just wanted to say thanks for sharing, I have created various toolbars and have been struggling to figure out a decent way of showing them, especially in the midi editor. Your ideas are really good and a neat way of showing them all. Thanks again.

dahva.... glad you like my methods
IMO, too bad reaper is not consistent in showing tabs in the MIDI Ed. toolbars like it does in the TCP.... that would be better

Yes, I don't like the inconsistency and less functionality in the midi editor.

Can you confirm that in the midi editor all of your toolbars have the numbers on the left to switch from one toolbar to the other? I believe that the Midi editor only allows one toolbar to be shown at a time, so I'm guessing that you have to show these numbers in every (midi editor) toolbar ?
