Default Low Latency Linux

I stimulated the economy and bought a second Roland KD-7 kick pad for my V-Drums. Running REAPER at 64 samples latency, while playing V-Drums into Superior Drummer 2 (a Windows plugin) I did this quick test with my new second kick pad. It was as responsive as playing my acoustic drums while I recorded it.

You bet! I always enjoy sharing my studio tests. Frequently, I learn something new from doing them.

Even though I use real acoustic drums for almost all my recordings now, I still use midi drums with Superior Drummer 2 as my metronome while tracking bass, guitars, Etc.

As for the Linux version of REAPER triggering WINE/LinVST bridged Superior Drummer 2 played by V-Drums, it was smooth as butter with no noticeable lag while I was playing/recording.

This is the rest of the pad kit that I played on this test.

Proton also saves my butt atm so i don't think i can go all-in Native Linux, aaanyway, might as well utilize Wine also if we can't replace stuff. (but we are trying) I don't need 1000 synths and prefer getting good with a few. (i'm telling myself)

I might ask you what to get when i have moved to another place, i want!
This guy has grown up now and has not excactly got worse, LoL

That was an entertaining video! Dood has some serious chops on the drums.

I haven't tried Proton, but I'm only running a handful of Windows based plugins at this point. When I first moved to Xubuntu from Windows I was still using a lot of Windows programs, but have since found equal or better native Linux replacements for all but the VST plugins like Superior Drummer 2, Kontakt, Arturia Minimoog V, and a few others..
