Default Use stretch markers or MIDI notes as tempo change markers

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum (even though I've been reading threads for a while).

I can't seem to find what I'm looking for via the search function...

So a friend consolidated tracks from a Cubase project so I can mix in Reaper. He has exported the click track as an audio file (which I have converted as a MIDI track using the audio to midi drum trigger plugin). I would now like to use this audio or MIDI to create a tempo map.

Do you know a methodology to create a tempo map by either:

- using the MIDI track, punching in a 1/8 tempo marker at each beat
- using stretch markers (generated from the audio track with the dynamic split item) to punch in a 1/8 tempo marker at each beat

If you can think of any other method, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks
Sylvain

So...
Install sws...

Grab ur midi click item and run the action, SWS/BR: Create project markers from notes in selected MIDI items".

Then follow the wiki tempo mapping with sws article.

If you have the option for your friend to export a midi track/file, that should contain the tempo changes. The midi track can even be blank or perhaps just have one note or something in it. When you import that into Reaper it should give you the option to apply those tempo changes.

Dear all,

Thank you very much for your answers. My friend exported tempo maps as MIDI files that indeed embark the tempo info (what Eric suggested) and it works just fine.

On to mixing

Thanks again!
