Hello folks,

I wanted to give the freeware plugins from the earlier days a last chance.

Guitars:
SimulAnalog Tubescreamer->JCM900
3 tracks (L/C/R)

Bass:
4Front Bass Module

Drums:
Short Circuit 1.2.2
Pipelineaudio drum samples
round robin faker Jesusonic plugin fresh from the stash

Mixing: ReaEq,MeldaProductions Free Bundle (compressor&limiter),
J.B. Ferox and OmniVerb

tracking:
1,5ghz intel celeron M torhiba notebook, 1gb RAM
M-Audio FastTrack Pro
2nd hand cheapy Les Paul copy

okay, guitars are a little bit out of time,
but there are a few tight palm mutes.
less gain and more doubling tracks
would make the wall of sound thicker

Now this is really nice.
I guess if you want more heaviness you could try the free LePou amp sims.
If possible could you please describe how many tracks you've played, what is the panning etc...

yeah, but they aren't as "low CPU" as Simulanalog

There are lots of more advanced ampsims,
but the guitarsuite is the most lightweight
and veeeery classic.

you can get another distorted tone with
tubescreamer->boss sd-1->rednef twin
if you mix it slightly to the jcm channel
(not doubling, but multiamping)
the sound gets more depth and sing-ring-thing-overtones

in this example there is only the JCM with screamer,
cheapy les paul clone, neck humbucker for fat attack
and low-end

I recorded three tracks.
panned to hard left, hard right and center.
all at the same volume.
