Default Question for the developer?

Would it be possible to have play/stop trigger by the mouse like Samplitude/Saw Studio, cause this is just too confortable and it's pretty much the only reason I'll buy Samplitude over Reaper.

What i think you should do is like Sam, use the scrool buton for play/stop, and add a +/- somewhere to resize object. The reason is very simple, i think we all use the play/stop function more than anything sel.

Anyway, that's my tow cents.

Thank you.

I could very easily add that to ReaperKeys DIY (programmable middle mouse button as well as the function keys) if there was any demand. Maybe make the right Windows key programmable as well, for those that have it. And Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and Pause/Break. Only downside would be that those keys would no longer work normally during use of Reaper when invoked via the utility.

Any interest?

In Samplitude it's click the middle button to start/stop playback.

Hi Justin,

Regarding using left click on Items, is there any plan to use the top half and bottom half of Items as two different areas?

e.g. leftclick drag in the top half of item could paint a range, whereas same action on bottom half of Item will move the item.

Regards,

Terry

Its funny that u guys mention this because earlier 2day i used a program called Mousewheel control to make the middle mouse button play and stop by clicking in and 1 sroll up and pausing by clicking in and scrolling down 1.Works nice.Definately would be a great addition to Reaper to do this natively.

Can you make the arrow keys programmable like the function keys?

I feel the pain - but - this has been mentioned by many Sam fans and disregarded by the Reapers.

With the new Lock function you can at least avoid moving items - I have asked for "painting" to work directly on items when the Lock is on.....

I kinda like the idea actually

as long as you can turn it off. When I try to use sam it seems like I need to have the tracks twice as high as reaper in order to do all the functions...but like you guys say, it sure as hell is handy!

Hmmm, not sure I'd like the idea of having to be precise where I click in an item - there's already plenty to avoid in the way of envelopes and volume lines etc.

I'd have to check what the consequences of doing that would be elsewhere in the program.

Hi Art,
When using Samplitude, I find this has never been a problem, in fact I don't think it ever came to my attention - nothing like the precision needed to drag Item edges, for example.

Terry

Hi Martin,

I think it's a shame not to use this possibility.
It's like a waste of a perfectly good option.

See http://www.cockos.com/forum/showpost...3&postcount=20 where I've added middle mouse button programmability to ReaperKeys DIY2.

I have not added arrow keys at present. So far, all the keys I have messed with are not used by Reaper itself. I've not had time to think through the consequences of reconfiguring the arrow keys.
