Fill your boots, buddy. Nice to see someone with your gfx skills having a play and we all benefit from the net result.
Just started playing again with the final light version of RADO that you did.
Nice.

Amazing for live usage and in larger distances to the screen(s)

Jeez! That nearly took my eyeballs out it is so confusing!
Please please don`t do anything quite that manic...
PeWe are you seriously suggesting you could use that theme onstage? I suppose with a giant projection screen it would work and could double up as a backdrop!
(juuuust kidding)

Even you´re just kidding,- Armor 02 green was the best theme for version 3 if you worked in a dark environment.
What you see in the screenshots is the theme w/ all the tracks colored.
I never did this.
I favourized to have all the background dark and the "LED"-type green for all necessary to read on a distance,- somewhat like this...
http://forum.cockos.com/attachment.p...1&d=1284864968
Ignore the bug in that pic, it´s just all about the black (or dark grey) and green relation and contrast and the knobs.
I´m far away from my screens when I play keys, so for me, it was the best for v.3.
B.t.w. I´m Scope user like Xite4Live,- so we share the love for Armor 02 green.
In fact we´d love to get something like this for Reaper 4.

Can't wait for this mod for sure. The default theme is my favorite of all the themes and a mod to make it just a bit more pretty is going to be great.

Ungeheuerlich!!!!!
I think you are all bats or owls or something.... (grin)
Personally I have lots of light and views of the beautiful English countryside out of my window in the studio.
Never have been able to get used to playing in a studio with very little light.
Hence those colours would reach out and bite me in my studio...
To each his own, of course.

VStyler, I would suggest some lighter theme. Because with RADO,RADO VOX (and recently: ReaBorn) we have covered "beautiful dark themes for Reaper". Default theme is only light theme that looks useful to me. Maybe we need another one, to have some alternative to default theme?

Yeah, im thinking something a bit lighter, and less Brown\Green than the default.
One thing about doing light track and mcp backgrounds tho is that when colored, they get uber-colorful
Looks like hell.
I know there is a way to control the level of tinting for media items, is there some control somewhere for track and mixer backgrounds?

However you choose to theme it, it will be sexy no doubt.
My only suggestions would be more focused use of colours and to re-do the midi editor. The default theme is nice but IMO uses too many colours in some places. Possibly my lack of understanding of GUI design, coming from web design I would have avoided that. Also the midi editor was sort of.... forgotten... during the skin design... or at least it feels like it.

I really liked the asthetic and color scheme of RADO-VOX...so maybe something like that? I adore the LED-style lights and indicators. I'd really like to see something shiny and plastic-y. Like this:

Ive also always liked that look too.
will more than likely be plastic'y, and lots of red and orange.
Just hard to make that work, in a light theme, and I wanted to go lighter on this.
Maybe i'll just go darker!

Go darker! :-D As long as you have LED-style lights and indicators in there, I'll be happy

Do believe I will.. but not quite as blue-grey as Rado VOX, but darker, and more glow.
Bear in mind, the general layout of the theme will remain the same, there is very little leeway in the default theme to make differently shaped or sized elements.

Please give us an option for track names at the bottom of the mixer if it's no trouble!

I keep trying assorted dark themes and find myself mentally reaching for the light switch all the time.
SO I am outta here -- have fun.
You do nice work Mr. Styler!

GrayMatter
Hi,
You should necessarily try to modify GrayMatter theme http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=78885.
This is a great theme with super use of WALTER. It has many layouts, that you can not find in other themes, for example: you can color just stripes on tcp (not whole background), with colapsed folders you can watch just dancing volume indicators, or have a master track in the view sidebar. I highly recommend. It is worth the modifications and to give it new life. It is light, so it can be an inspiration for you in that direction and Barnstraw (author) is very helpfull.
CHECK IT!!!!

Grey Matter is definitely part of the Reaper lore. It makes a sensational use of Walter, has cool and practical layouts and is great to look at. Has been my default, should go back to it.
