Default Windows 7 - Compatibility Mode

Hello all,

I got a new Computer: Windows 7 (64 bit), 8 GB RAM, Intel core i5, Reaper(x64).
Everything is working well but the 32bit SFZ VSTi. When I try to load a soundfont, I get an error message that there is not enaugh memory available. The same with Reaper(x86), where the plug isn't bridged.

My workaround is to run Reaper(x64) in compatibility mode to windows server, or for Reaper(x86) in compatibility mode to windows-xp sp3. Whith this configuration everything seems working allright.

Now my questions:
1.) If I run Reaper in compatibility mode, do I have performance limitations or other issues?

2.) Is there possibly a different way to run only a single plugin in compatibility mode and not the host?

Thank you in advance
Markus

Welcome to the forum,

Even in the 32bit reaper you can right click a plug-in in the fx browser and select if you want it to run in stand alone mode "fx firewalled". This might work and might be better than running the whole program in compatibility mode.

I'm on win 7 64 with 6 gig of ram and find it's the best way to run my system at the moment until all my plugs are 64bit. I still get 4 gig in total to use.

Someone else might be able to give you more detail on this though.

Hi musicbynumbers,

thank you for your quick help. I will try it tonight. Will it work in Reaper(x64) too? Maybe it's a good idea to have a deeper look into the manual...

greetings
Markus

I downloaded a newer version of SFZ. There was an attachment in a different thread about SFZ problems. I tried it and all my problems were fixed. So I can use Reaper(x64) whith bridged 32bit plugs. It looks like it works for me.

If someone else has trouble whith SFZ, here is the attached file:
