Default My Reaper is dying! vst incompatibility?

Hi guys!

I'm working on a project with 22 tracks and a lot of vst and vsti (windows xp).
My problem: reaper crashes without warning and and I cannot add some vsti like native intrsument fm8 witch work well before.
you can understand how upseting it is...

here is the vst I use for this project:
BUT of course, most of them are rendered and set bypass: it's not a cpu overload

- disco dsp discovery
- amplitube x-gear (x5)
- NI B4II
- musicrow vintage strings mkIII
- arturia minimoog v (x2)
- Cakewalk sfz+
- D16 group fazorian (x3)
- addictive drums
- Overloud Breverb
- Audiodammage fluid (x3)
- D16 group redoptor
- wavearts trackplug (x2)
- Tone2 filterbank3 (x2)
- empress effect tremolo
- audiodammage liquid

Any idea? do you also have some crashs using one of those vst?

thanks in advance, merry christmas!

Watch Task Manager to see what your memory usage is doing. I'll bet you are running out of RAM.

5 instances of anything 'Amplitube' is gonna eat a large CHUNK of RAM...

+1 for running out of ram.

you can trade in some of that instability for worse latency if you set some of those plugins to run in their own process. right click them in the fx browser and you can set them to run 'dedicated process' - they get way more stable like that but minimum latency and cpu burn goes up a bit.

2x, that's the usual cause of app just freezing and/or vanishing.

You will have to (stem) render some of your heavy VSTis (like AD)
and put the original effects offline (to unload RAM and CPU use).

AND you should run one of the free ram-checking programs.

If you've got a bad memory cell way high up on your ram chips it wont crash until you hit it. Ram really should be matched and all from one brand; and right now its too cheap not to max it out.

Even with a lot of ram, with that many vsti's I'd consider doing a lot of track-freezes tho....
