This one is great.
Except: i don't like blue.
If it were black (instead of blue) and green (instead of white) it would be my new default.
Would you mind making such an inverted greenscale version?
Pleeeaaaase.

That would be nifty. I could find that old console font and and would be 1983 all over again. Perhaps I'll do it. No promises. But once the blue is uploaded, it shouldn't be hard for someone to tweak the elements if I don't get around to it.

This is a great idea for a fun theme. I'm not sure how much I'd use it but I'm looking forward to playing with it!! Very creative.

Agree.
blue always reminds me of the cops or rich entitled people, or baby boys bedrooms. I hate blue,(not babyboys though) particularly this shade.
But if it were dark, not quite black, but a deep grey with a nice warm earth colour, like orange or ochre or another white/greyish hue it would rock.
Possibly with diffreernt features utilising other cool like colours such as electric olive(?) and stunning sienna(?), you know? not quite fluoro but bright like fruity loops but more washed out and muddy, earthy tones.
I rekon u do hot work, man,
but didnt get orca for the whole blue vibe, otherwise i loved it.

I love this ReaCAD theme. It looks plenty usable. Very cool.

*somehow* this is really appealing i think i would download it and fire it up if i'm on the "totally experimental" trip.
VERY nice but rarely usable!

I like transparent themes. And the second screenshot you posted I like a lot.
But I don't like blue so much also.
My ideal version of this would be:
Make everything black that's now blue.
(just a personal suggestion of my probably weird taste, as I like b&w themes).

It could be useable for me if it was paperlike (white).

paperwhite should include some sort of texture which is not very good idea for reaper themes. But your idea is very ReaScketchUp.

I have questions for the more advanced themers. There are a couple of things I would like to have control over to make this theme work for me.
1) The color of that box in the VU area that says "Left"
2) The color of the numbers in the VU meter
3) The color of the shading for a muted/soloed/locked item
4) The color of the I-Beam cursor (not shown)

Seeing that there may not be a fix for those things, I made a version in which I desaturated every image (making it gray). I'll post a pic in the morning.

I like the blue more, but that looks nice greyscale to.
Are you intending to make other solid colors? pink for the ladies? brown? etc.

Well, I think just these two colors for now. I was just chasing an idea, but I don't think anyone would use this regularly. Actually, if I do another color scheme for this, I would make one to more resemble CAD style, with a black background and typical CAD primary colors for the vectors. Maybe keep the TCP/MCP outlines and item outlines white, so that the user can tint them with the right-click.

eye fatigueing
I like the blue and white theme a lot.
would it be difficult to change the text colour to yellow?
The reason I am asking is:
I red a long time ago a report about eye fatgueing during
long pc or radar sessions (a military report - I used to
watch such screens for a living for about 20 years.)
The report concluded with - which is also my own experience,
that yellow text or symbols on blu background was the least
eyefatigueing colour combination for long sessions.
...So will it be easy for me to modify this theme accordingly?
(I have no knowledge in theming, obviously).

Once I upload something, it should be easy to adjust to your taste. The white (very slightly blue actually) images have transparent backgrounds. So if you colorize one image in Gimp and like it, it will remember that setting and you can apply it to all the white stuff. The only obstacle is the tedium.

I would think that looking at text on graphics that are colored on the opposite side of the spectrum would be fatiguing. That will be interesting to look into.

yellow text
Thank you Mark for your informative answer.
I will look into it to see if I can learn how to
adjust your fine theme to my preference colour.

Mark VH, this is one theme I'm looking forward to! Great work, good idea! Can't wait.
Since I'm a power MIDI editor user, can you tell me how that window is going?

Please do this...black with primary colors would be great. I would actually use it, I think.
