Default Recover overwritten file?

Stupid me didn't choose bidirectional and accidentally overwrote a very important file. Is there any way at all to undo the action and recover the original file? I tried a while ago to use the recovery programs but none worked as promised. Any help appreciated. Argh!

You *could* try GetDataBack for NTFS.... it's a long shot, but claims to be able to recover intentional file system damage (in some cases).

Trouble is, the more you write to the disk the less easy that may become....
