Default using green screen vid with Reaper

Hi,
I have a basic knowledge of using video processor that is enough for my basic needs.
I combine my saxophone track with video.
when I play few instruments I am using grid effect.

A week ago I made a video recording with a green screen setup.
I have a video file. The guy that supposed to make a clip is not available for sometime.
So I got an idea to try to put something on background of my green screen vid.
Could somebody provide step by step how I have to manipulate with initial green screen vid track.

where background vid should be placed before or after the green track?
what I have to select in video processor and where to place this effect track?
Also is there some free library of clips that I can use. Sure I can find something on utube.
I need some romantic scene for Besame Mucho tune.
If somebody willing to help and do some quick clip plz let me know I can provide a link to my green vid.
Sure it is interesting to try something new.
Thanks.

Thank you very much for answering. Could you please elaborate. I feel frustrated .
Cannot figure it out.
I loaded your test project. Don't see effect enabled.

So how it works without chroma-key enabled.
See please a pic from my vid. Is it possible in Reaper to cut the things on the sides.
How I should proceed with tracks. I have 2 : me on green screen, then video that I would like to have as a background. On which track cromakey should be enabled? Or it should be a separate track with effect enabled?
Now I think that I cannot cut the sides of the video in Reaper. The guy that suppose to do the clip uses other app but he is not available now. And I desperately want to make something.
here is the pic from my vid for understanding what I have.

Hi bobobo,
first, thank you very much for making detailed screenshot.
I followed your guidance and was surprized by first "success" .
Played a bit with zooming to fit my appearance on background vid.
Sure, that questions comming. I don't have an intention to become an advanced Reaper video user. But it is fun ...
I uploaded exported project... it's 3 min long, but is pretty heavy 640 MB.
May be you have time and willing to download and check my newbie "creativity"
sure it is not necessary... I can simply ask what I would like to change:
I would like to change zoom of myself (make it in full-length) in the middle of vid were no background video appears and I am on black background
As I understand, Effect with the settings is applied for a whole track.
So the zoom is set for a whole track.
how can i change zoom in different points of track?
Should I add empty track with effect enabled and change zoom in needed points? Or there are other technics?

here is the link in case you'll want to see what I did

Thanks again.
Michael.

parameter modulatioj is he key

if you load my first project you see the pear-man jumping around. that is made with parametermodulation.

if you look at the zoom knob you can add an itemenvelope.

hit the knob once and select param and there the show envelope in media item
a line iscdrawn, you can set points in the line and drag them arround. this may be fiddly but with a little exercise you ll manage it.

jon made vlogs how to deal with reaper and video

and now i'll watch your video

OK a quick look .. you have put the video proc on the track so you have to make a track envelope for the zoom . setting point here an there an move then slightly up or down will change the zoom on the fly.

ther is an option when right click in the video window. send midi cc ... you can use this to dragg your video around AND create envelopepoints (write mode) jon is exited about this feature

nice playing

THANKS! just read your notes... seems too complex to me
I will try tomorrow.
No need to load the project. I rendered it and it's just 43MB (in the same link as above).

So, I did the basic mix of video on green screen and background footage using chroma-key and overlay effects.

Can I get the same result using virtual green screen.
What should be done?

Would it be another track with effect?

Please simply steps explanation because of my lack of knowledge.

Thanks.

virtual green screen ?

ok

xvid is a software that can achieve that somehow. the workflow maybe a recording through obs which makes the filtering somehow. i wont dive into it further.

but the reaper way
if your video (you playing the sax) has enough differences between
you and the background ( inthink of a dark background and you
enlighted with a spotlight ) you can increase the difference in
contrast and brightness in reaper itself to extremes so that you
get a black and white image. You can use this as alphamask (some maths needed but there are videoproc-scripts that are already
there, leandro has made himself a brain about that) for the original video, alphablend it and lay a background (f.i. those hungry people of your video above) behind it.
i think that could be done.

something for your project

i have your project here. in the sax video you can crop the sides and top to get a smaller you standing in the green and use that to chromekey the green out. the result is much better. f.i. you can put yourself playing sax on the dishes (very small) while the people are eating.
later today i will get to my computer and make a demo project for you.
i have to look for the videoproc for the cropping stuff.

stay tuned

Thanks for your time and willingness to help, bobobo!

Sax in plate (more saxophonist in plate).
I told you in PM my situation with my "poor" first experience. Simply decided to leave at as is. I think it's not so terrible.

Sure, video itself is a science. Working with app is another one...
So, no harm to try.
I placed my final on my tube channel.
It's practically the same as my initial with just a minimal zoom adjustment.
To continue my first step practice I have to try virtual green screen.
Don't want to buy one before I will acquire some technics in Reaper.

Here is my last on tube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ju0HecMxAc
