Default Does anyone use Track Templates for storing ideas?

Ableton Equivalent - Live Clips .alc files

Do they store tempo information?

Just try it out, I guess tempo is global, meaning a different type, as mentioned just guessing. Unless you find a way to convert tempo events to some midi representation, than doing cross-conversions while saving/loading track templates, then it should work, somehow. As you know, in Reaper anything is possible what you can imagine.

if you have a midi item, even an empty one, and you tell the template to include that info, it should work

I had tried with Audio & Midi Item Timebase as Time so as to not stretch the midi if the tempo is different while loading the track template, it does not hold tempo information

It's not a bad idea but I prefer to keep my Track Templates list uncluttered with things I'm not likely to use more than once.

When I save, I just add an idle mp3 render to the queue, named after the project. Quickest way for me to go through a bunch of ideas is like that and I can easily find the project by name. I even rate them so I know which are worth revisiting. Loading templates is much slower.

I do it all the time, and save them into a completely different folder than my Track Template folder.

But remember not to change the folder / name or place of the project that the track template is referencing

This is great for macro ideas where a whole section of a song is already ready. I am not talking about that,

I am talking about micro ideas for example

let's say you made a good synth preset with a good Melody or chord progression: you save it inside a common Ideas folder as a tracks template

Then some other day you made a sick drum beat & you save that too

Now the day after that you go into global Ideas folder & use it as a palette & mix & match different track template ideas like different colors from a palette.

Track templates are good for that.

What happens if I rename & move the folder, once i've loaded the tracks I don't need that reference any more, right?

If wrong can I refer it back or is it lost forever?

Also what if I save the tracks in a project & then rename & move the track template folder will it still get lost?
