Default Advice for best levels/plugins/effects etc for Recording Voiceover

Hi guys,

Hope this is posted in the right place; as the title suggests I'm looking for Advice for best levels/plugins/effects etc for Recording Voiceover in Reaper.

I'm using a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 with a Rode Nt1a in a sound treated closet about 4ft by 4ft.

I'm also using a Waves Ns1 plugin set about 20 for background noise elimination.
Does it matter where this is put in the FX chain?

I've included one of my recordings for you.

I know there is some sibilance - I think this is partly due to the microphone which is well known for it.

I need to get some new headphones as they are too bassy and I wonder is my recording loud enough? - I've also tried normalizing with varying results.

Would love to know a rough guide of what effects to use and where to set them.
I've followed BoothJunkies guide, but still would love some feedback on any improvements.

So to summarize :

Volume ok?
Effects Advice?
Ns1 chain position?
Normalizing?

Hope it's ok to add a link as it slightly exceeds limits:

Thanks very much!

Sounds great tbh.
D. Attenborough style, though more theatrical.

Thanks. The Normalization doesn't always seem to work out for me in terms of getting the right volume.

Cheers

I think you sound good to Sig, for what ever you're doing this for. You talk about normalization, I've never done it that way. I usually apply a compressor until my voice sounds as good as it's going to be with a compressor. However, I don't get carried away with the compression, I use it until it's just sounding good regarding the louder and less louder words.

Then I go through and methodically increase and decrease the volume as I think fits using volume envelopes.

However, your recording sounds very good, will it be alone like it is or will it be mixed with other sounds/music.
