Delay Video
Hi,
I have a sync problem with a video file (video+audio). Audio is behind / video is ahead. Audio will be synced to grid just using the peaks display. Is there a way do delay the video so everything is in sync? I know that I could split audio & video to different tracks, but I would like to avoid this. I imagine this should be one or two lines in 'Video Processor', but I have no experience with it. Thanks for the help & Cheers

Just a little hint,
you don't have to split to audio and video, you can just duplicate "film" track and mute audio in "video" track and 'mute/disable' video in "audio track". |

That's what I meant when I wrote 'split' Maybe I could have been more precise. -> Just one track

OK, I wasn't sure if you meant really split as render audio to separate track, which would be waste of harddrive space.
And yes, one track is much cleaner than two, for sure. I can think of using track delay option (positive or negative) called "Playback time offset" in TCP together with audio delay jsfx effect (also positive or negative) to adjust to your needs? (Also the timeline could be offset I think to conform timeshifted audio or video contetnt if required (as you would want to match transients to grid). Last edited by akademie; 11-21-2021 at 05:27 AM. Reason: added the name of the "Playback time offset" option |

Problem is, your suggestions only affect audio.
I don't want to delay audio because it is already perfectly aligned to the grid. I want to delay video. My guess is, as I stated earlier, one or two lines of code in 'Video Processor'

That track's "Playback time offset" option should affect the whole media (=also video part), so if you set negative delay using jsfx timedelay effect (audio) to match a/v sync and then set the same amount in Playback time offset, then you should end up with correct av sync and also correct audio transients to grid matching.
BTW, the "Playback time offset" option is in dialog when you right-click the track's volume fader. |

I tested track offset once again to be sure.
It most certainly does not alter video, only audio. Seems that I have to duplicate the track.

Well, I made a mistake.
You were right, track offset does affect video as well. But only on playback, not when transport is stopped.
