Default request: Right-drag to select tracks

If it's possible I'd like to drag over tracks in TCP and mixer to select them, rather than clicking one, holding shift and clicking last one.

In other words, Marquee selecting tracks.

I select items across tracks with rt-drag and don't even think about it.

Making track selections isn't as easy, takes two hands. If all tracks were selected along with items, instead of just the first one it wouldn't be a problem.

It would just be really great to be able to swipe across a few tracks to select them.

yes I see it now

It would be consistent with the right click/drag to select anything and it makes easier to select multiple groups of tracks that are not all contiguous like in SHIFT+click

I would prefer that LEFT drag select tracks. Let me just LEFT drag across the tracks to select them. Starting at the track number would be fine. If I click and drag over the track number, select all tracks dragged across.

also interesting idea since we can do that with solo, mute and record arm buttons. dragging over track number is a good idea

Why don't you just do this:

Track Control Panel - Marquee Select Tracks

- left or right dragging with any combination of modifier keys: no luck.

I was dragging but I used some clever editing to get that result.

Have I told you that I mess with mouse cursors?

I would really like to get an easy way to select multiple track by dragging in TCP (just as we can do with the solos and mute). As I use marquee to select items in timeline it would alse can be an option "track selection follow item selection..."

This post is old and I still can't find a solution for automatically selecting tracks when items are selected. Is there a way to automate Script: X-Raym_Select only tracks of selected items.lua every time I right-drag some items?

Fantastic! It's exactly what I was looking for. There doesn't seem to be one for muting tracks though :-(

It's may be a faster "yes" if you ask to have track manager updated to allow dragging in the middle of a track list. It already does exactly what you want, except it doesn't allow the drag starting with an existing track - having TM docked like that is the bomb:
