I was discussing this with a Dell salesperson yesterday regarding their 34" U3415W 3440x1440 after reading on a Macrumors forum that it would work. The conversation went like this:
Me: "I was reading a post on macrumors forum. Someone was considering this 34" Dell monitor and had a late 2012 Mac-Mini like mine. A person responded with this comment: "You should be fine with mDP-mDP or mDP-DP cabling."
Dell Agent: "yes, that is correct if you are using a mini display to mini display we recommend U3415W as an option"
Me: "Does this mean I can get good results using the 34" U3415W with my Mac-Mini?"
Dell Agent: "yes, you will be able to access your mac-mini with U3415W when connected over mini display cable with no loss when it comes to resolution"
Me: "I see. So I can achieve 3440x1440? What about 60 Hz? Some people mentioned they could only achieve 50 Hz. Would that affect jerkiness of movement or video playback issues?"
Dell Agent: "Yes, it can take 3440x1440 at 60hz comfortably with no problems."
