Anything I do in one measure affects all measures

Just started using REAPER on a new laptop. Every time I try to add midi notes, it duplicates that note in every measure of the song. How do I turn this off?

Not an expert and probably some better advice coming, but right click on the midi loop and make sure that in "Item Settings" of that loop that you have "loop item source" UN-ticked.
