I use addictive but have not tried bfd.

Addictive Drums (AD) works and sounds great in Reaper. But I've not heard bfd.

Another factor to consider is that Addictive doesn't bite a massive chunk out of your hard drive space.

As suggested in the previous post, it's probably best to try the demos.

You can hear AD in the following posts

1)Recent posts by me (stratman) and saulopv in the REAPER Music/Collaboration Discussion thread.

2)Under REAPER General Discussion Forum, check the thread called BFD v EZdrummer. In post #5 Amberience gives a link to tracks using AD.

I don’t know if anyone has posted any stuff that uses bfd.

Default Bitchin' Stratman

That not only helped me, it inspired me. I got to hear AD plus the kind of music I love. A kind of Funk/Rock/Whatever Thang. I'm new at this, and wasn't 100% sure yet if REAPER could get me where I wanted to be. Now I know it can. Those drums sounded good to me, as well as your great guitar work. Well done.

Default Getting AD working with Reaper

Hey gang. New to the forum here but I've been over at homerecording.com for years. Anyway, I've recently gotten interested in drum programming. I have the demo version of AD right now and I just recently downloaded reaper. I've been using N-Track for the past few years but it has some quirks that make it difficult to use midi drums. I was told that Reaper works very well with AD, so here I am. The problem is, when I downloaded Reaper it recognized every plugin and effect on my entire PC except for AD! I even uninstalled AD and reinstalled the demo version directing the download to Reaper and still nothing! I'm hoping to use Reaper with AD and if all goes well I will purchase the full version of AD. However, I've got to get it working first. Any thoughts? Where do I need to put the AD files for Reaper to recognize them? I'm at a loss. Thanks for the help.

When I first installed the AD demo it put a dll file in the following location on my computer C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins.

I put a copy of the dll in the location below:

C:\Program Files\REAPER\Plugins\FX

After this it appeared in the list of VSTi's when I clicked on the track 'fx'.

After trying the demo I purchased the full version. If I recall correctly, when I installed the full version I think it overwrote the demo dll and put a new file in C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins.

So I had to remove the old Addictive demo dll from the Reaper FX folder and replace it with the new dll called Addictive Drums for the full version.

I'm still a bit of a newbie, so I'm not sure if this is the best method, but it worked for me.

What usually happens when I make a suggestion is that someone posts after me with a much better idea.

Pete
