Device issues with portable install

I'm trying to get Reaper portable install to work off a laptop that's plugged into an x32.

I see the x32 in the device configuration, but when I select it it doesn't appear in the top right corner and nothing works.

The portable install is on a USB.

If there's another way to use my version of Reaper with all settings, without copying any of them to the laptop, so that I can easily leave and then there's nothing left on the laptop that isn't stock Reaper, that would be great.
