Recently I've been trying use ReaSynth more often but I can never get a real good sound out of it. I was curious if there was a way to get this type of sound from either ReaSynth or some cheap/free VST plugin. Thanks for your help.
The synth at 2:09 in this song is what I'm looking to emulate:
+1 for Synth 1. It doesn't sound like a complicated patch. There are hundreds of free synths that could make that sound, and have more features than ReaSynth. Some of the ones I find easiest to program are LinPlug Alpha (discontinued I think but you can still find it out there), PG8X, or Minimiogue. $0.02
You can make any synth sound pretty good if you put enough distortion on it. And it will make good synths better. It brings things to life. Try to use a good tube distortion like the kush 458.
A simple sine wave organ type sound.
Use one of the U-HE freebies or Synth 1 or Charlatan or an organ simulator or similar. Really ReaSynth is best considered as a test tool for when you don't have any plugins installed yet.
You could make a similar sound to that in Reasynth with some effort, but why bother.
