Default VS 1680 to Reaper, which Mixing Console

Hello All! New to the forum here...I've licensed Reaper to use sending and receiving wav files to musical collaborators...I've done a few rough mixes in Reaper before sending wav files off.

Question: if I decide to mix in Reaper and don't want to use the mouse, which console would you recommend? Simple, 16 tracks preferably 100mm faders...
AND
What do you think about the onboard effects in Reaper versus the 1680 vs8f2 effects? I tend to like many of the VS effects but just wondering if anybody has transitioned from VS to Reaper and maybe hoping to get your insights...

I did it in 2 steps. Started out with a pair of Fostex 8 track HD recorders from an A&H full format desk, then migrated to a Tascam 12 track digital. Had no trouble migrating tracks from either into Reaper.
