Default Crazy latency after adding ReaPitch ...?

I just added the ReaPitch FX to my piano track.
Gave me pretty bad latency, and I don't quite understand why.

I tried other pitch FX like Cakewalk and that didn't give me latency as much as ReaPitch, but cakewalks gave me some note artifacts at times.

Is there any secret to pitch change and not having the latency?

ReaPitch has high latency. It's not designed for realtime use.

You wouldn't think that a simple pitch change would involve much signal processing.
The Cakewalk one was slightly better, but not great to be honest.

I wonder then if there is a Hardware pitch changer?

I would recommend the "JS: Pitch Shifter 2" for a realtime zero latency pitch shifter.

It's probably not as simple an algorithm as you think, then.
Being based on Elastique, it's quite sophisticated actually.
