Default About tracks meter and monitoring. Need some help

2 newbie questions...

1# How can I see my actual input gain volume on the tracks (at mixer and main page)?

The tracks has no meter levels (the dBfs or whatever) like the master track has. And the tracks only tell the fader volume level not the input level.

"I soloed the track (to see at the master the input gain levels) and set the input gain in my converter and raised the fader(on reaper mixer) for my monitoring and the input level also raised. So that I come with the next question"

2# How can I raise the fader without messing with the input level?
I want to record at conservative levels and monitoring loud.

PS: my converter has no "Direct Monitoring" function...

Thank you

The track fader actually has no effect on the input level, so if you are monitoring through REAPER, you can turn it up if you need to.

THe default mixer panels meter do only show the fader level, but the Track panels on the arrange do show the input / track level.

Also if you switch the mixer layout to "Recording" or "Big Meter", you will see the input and not jus tthe fader position.

I'm sorry...
It's awesome that I can change the layout of the track but, I can't see a way of creating a custom action like: "set the track layout of the selected track to big meter" for example. I haven't found anything in the action list...

How can I do that?

In that action list you will see "Layout: apply custom layout #xx"

To save the layouts, Open:

View: Screensets/Layouts

Click on the "Layouts" tab.

You will see a list, "Action #1" - "Action #20"

Double click on a field for a particular line, and you will see 2 dropdown windows appear. Here you can select what the layout effects (Track, Mixer, I think you want "selected Mixer panel") and then what layout you want for it.

From there you assign the actions however you like.

Thanks.

Is there a way to set the track default layout? Or I should change at every new project?
