Default Route track output

I have a track1 with a vst making sound. I then want to route the output post-fx to another track2 and print and record the sound. I thought this would only be a matter of adding a send/receive Pre-Fader(Post-FX) but this does not work. The track2 still only record the sound going into track1 and not what is coming out of track1. What am I missing. (I have been working in Ableton Live for a long time now and this operation is straight forward in Ableton.. Do not get my head around this in Reaper)

Ah ok thanks for the advise! I must say this was not very intuitive but I got it working now :-) Hope you don't mind a quick follow up question. Do you know if it is possible to monitor track1 without record-arming it?

aseveral actions exist that allow you to simply render such a signal to a new item instead of recording it on another track which considerably speeds up the process and avoids having to create yet another track. Look for actions containing "render" and "stems".
