Default FX window question

Is there any way making the FX window of a track disappear when another track is selected?

Do you select the other track with the mouse
or via shortcut/ action?
If you do the latter, you can make a custom action containing one of the 'fx close' actions (assuming you have SWS installed..)

In case you want to switch between FX chains of different tracks, maybe check out the Only allow one FX chain window open at a time option (which has also 2 sub-options) under Preferences > Plug-ins.

For a Custom Action, you can try something like this:
Code:
SWS/S&M: Close all FX chain windows
Track: Select track under mouse
And then assign this Custom Action for instance to one of the following Mouse Modifiers (since [Track control Panel] [left click] is not available, as Coachz already mentioned above):
- [Track] [left click]
- [Track control panel] [double click]
- ...

Thanks

The first option works for me, its not exactly what i wanted but its a good alternative
For the second suggestion - I'm afraid I dont know where you cut and paste the code into!

The steps for making a Custom Action are basically:

1) In the Action List: press the Custom Actions [New ...] button
2) Enter a name for the Custom Action at the top right input field
3) Then drag & drop individual Actions (like the ones I mentioned in my example) from the left panel into the right one

More info here:

The ones you mentioned did not exist in the left hand panel though?

There is no mouse modifier for LEFT CLICK on the track control panel so one option is to make a custom action (that can be called from anywhere). Then you assign a key to it (say F) and whenever you press F the custom action will fire.

Since it has an action to select a track under the mouse you would position your mouse over the track and hit F, then it has a track to select.

If you're talking about the panel mentioned in step 3):

Make sure that the correct Section (in this case: MAIN) is selected at the top right in the Action List window before making a new Custom Action (in general, some Actions are only available in specific Sections).
Or are you referring to something else?

As additional side note: 'SWS/S&M: Close all FX chain windows' is part of the SWS Extensions

Thank you - that seems to work fine
