Default "Take: Implode items on same track into takes" Moves media items?

I'm not sure if this is a new bug or not but if I have media items in lanes and I implode them into takes for comping it would be better if the media items did not all move to the start time of the earliest media item.

I also which that this command did not change the order of the media items but it seems to want to put the longest medit item at the top of the take list.

In Practice this is how I reproduce this issue.
Set Options/ New recording that overlaps existing media itmes/ to creates new media items in separate lates.
Then record some audio from bar 1 for 4 bars, then record some audio from bar 2 for 3 bars, then record from bar 3 for 5 bars.

then run the command

Take: Implode items on same track into takes

And see what happens

DO NOT add a better a preset manager
DO NOT add a better fx window that can help us to route in parralel between vsts inside a track.
DO NOT add anything related to better workflow
DO NOT improve the GUI to make it more attractive

please don't! even if 99% precent of the CONs about REAPER all over the place are about these. just dont! even if many users find these really useful, still dont!

If you move a group of items, grabbing either not a top item or not a bottom item, they are positioned incorrectly

It would be nice to be able to put on the hatched lane more that one item at once (when items are on separate lanes). When we move than more one item at this place, in general, it's because we want to move all selected items on new lanes.

And of course it will be great to recover the media lanes auto mode which is different from this new mode and different from free item positioning (which can not be well organized because there is no symmetric lanes when items are overlapped + we have often to resize items and resize the TCP to manage items position).

When there is already an item it doesn't create a second lane, if i delete the item and then draw a new one, there are two lanes, is that on purpose?
Also it would be nice if we could draw items on track lane adder and create a new lane.

I think it works very nice on this update. I dragged a couple of items on lane adder and it created the same number of lanes THANKS devs!

Regarding dragging items to lane adder, it needs some improvement especially when we drag items from the bottom part, the item jumps to the next track and not to the lane adder. When i drag the item from the middle or top of it, it drops better.

And this would be also useful. Now if we work with a small number of lanes, e.g 3, and we want to decrease the track height so it doesn't take too much space, we can't add new lanes because the lane adder disappear.

Some thoughts about lane adder size, can we have an option like: lane adder follow the size of lanes?
So when we turn fixed lanes on, there will be two lanes, the default and the lane adder at the same height as the default lane. If we add more lanes, lane adder will follow the same lane height and with this way it will never hide since it will always be the bottom lane.
Still with the same "stripes" indication so that we know that the track lanes are fixed for tracks. But it would be easier to drop items in there and maybe better to draw and add lanes.

Dragging multiple items to create lanes works fine, but needs some improvement as shown below.
If i drag the selection from the top item, it adds the items one by one and creates 3 new lanes. But when i drag from the bottom or middle item, i can't add them all together.



Also dragging the selection from the top item to the next track(or to create a new), and then back to previous track, it change the number of lanes from 3 to 2 and the bottom item is overlapped on last lane.
However this doesn't happen if i drag the selection from the middle or bottom item.

I thought this might work for selected items on similar lanes across different tracks. I guess that comes later (so we can also use this when multi track editing.)

Bug : "hide labesl when the media item height is less than xx pixels " doesn't work with free item positioning and "draw labels above the item" enabled.

Here, items are fare smaller than 22 pixel but labels remains (they should be hidden):

My setting:
- hide labesl when the media item height is less than 22 pixel
- free item positioning

This why media lanes auto has an interest. When we drop an item on an another item it creates a new lane.

Yup, opens up all sorts of possibilities.

ex: Drop a bunch of hihat samples vertically into lanes, you now have a "super hihat" item that you can paste over and over cycle takes to get the different sounds with a single click.
