Did you check Options|Preferences...Plugins...VST...there is a path setting there where you can "point" to the directory that Melodyne lives in...point to where the dll is for Melodyne...

its a very good piece of software if you can get it running like. In fl studio it only opens up as an effect and not as a vst. Does anyone know how to use the keygen to get the full version i cant figure it out?

I think you are in the wrong forum there, buddy. You may want to try this one:

Hi,

Did you ever figure out how to get the Melodyne Plug in to work?
I would really like to try this product out in reaper before I buy it.

Thanks for any help on this subject.

OK I got Melodyne to show up in the FX plugins.
I took a vocal track from a tune I'm working on and clicked on the Fx button, selected Melodyne, the Melodyne window opened up, but there is no vocal blobs in there to adjust.

Thanks
Basil

You have to hit the "transfer audio" button (might have the wording wrong." Then play the audio track in reaper and you'll see the audio data show up in the plugin when you're done. The Melodyne manual is helpful in this case.

Hey Clayton,

I was able to transfer the vocal track.
I see you have to go back and fourth using the reaper play button to get melodyne to play, but at least it works.
This is just a demo of melodyne so I don't have a manual.
Do you think it's good product for it use and does it get along with reaper?

Thanks
Basil

I think it's an excellent product, and so far seems to get along great with Reaper for me. It's a good time to buy since you'd get a free upgrade to the new version this fall with direct note access (which, IMO, is amazing.)

How long have you been using it with reaper?

Does it ever crash?

I've only had it for a couple of months. I'm just a hobbyist, so I haven't used it extensively (just play with it quite a bit.) I've never had it crashed or had unexpected problems with it. Right now, I'm using it to retune some world and ethnic voice phrase samples to different tunes (to fit some musical ideas I have). Being able to just drag each syllable to different notes is awesome. IMO, it's very transparent.

I use to use Autotune and Melodyne is certainly much easier to use.

I'm a hobbyist singer that sometimes has a off key note here and there. Have you ever create vocal harmony parts using just one recorded voice?

Thanks

I haven't used it like that in a project, but I've played around with creating vocal harmonies and have been able to produce some very good results. I think if I were doing a serious project, I'd be able to get some passable harmonies.

To do harmonies, you have to run one instance of Melodyne for each harmony part you want to create.

I'll try to post an example in a few minutes.

That what I would figure.

Make a copy and change it's key.
Question....can you do this in real time?

IE...
Have the whole track playing and hear the harmony part live and be able tweek it.

Yes, you can do this in real-time. I just did a quick demo of playing around with it to create harmonies. I just duplicated the original track twice and put Melodyne on each of the 2 new tracks. I then looped the region and played around with Melodyne until it sounded decent. This took me about 2 minutes to put together.

Original: http://sessionthree.com/files/forums...e_original.mp3

Original with first harmony part pitched up: http://sessionthree.com/files/forums...st_harmony.mp3

and then with a second harmony part pitched down: http://sessionthree.com/files/forums...nd_harmony.mp3

No problem.

Oh, there is one small issue I noticed when I was exporting the audio to post to the webpage. When I first tried to export an mp3 at 44.1kHz (the project was at 48kHz), the pitches were screwed up. When I exported in wav format without resampling (at 48kHz) everything was OK. I then used Audition to convert to mp3.

Is there away to bring up Melodyn'e transport and sync it to Reaper while using the plug version so that you don't have to use Reaper to play Melodyne,,,,that is very aggravating because I lose my Melodyne window to the tool bar each time.

I also find this transport problem to be a bit frustrating, however I'm using dual screen; keep melodyne off to one side. Generally I transfer a whole track, then loop small sections while adjusting and move the loop pointers as I go. Depending on the size of the track and how much I need to adjust/change/modify/tweak/destroy, sometimes I come close to the 15 minute limit before I render twice to avoid the nasty demo beeps.

Trivial tip for today: watch out for modifying notes with a sibilance attatched. An 's' can turn into a distorted 'z' if it is pitch shifted too much (not sure why)

Excellent advice, Max. Sung vowels carry pitch, sung consonants (well, as distinct from hummed) tend not to. When I pitch-correct vocals in Melodyne I'll often clip off the consonants and just pitch correct the vowels to avoid artifacts like the "aerosol spray can through a phaser" sound that a long "s" can get.

I read in the Melodyne forum that in order to sync the transport to the host on most Daws you have to use rewire. It has something to do with bidirectional communicatin. (Over my head for now)LOL. Any who,,,,I'm not familiar with REwire. Could someone tell me how this works please.

There are various versions of Melodyne. Are you sure they were talking about the Plugin-Version ?

Actually I don't know.
I bought the Ask video, melodyne tutorial dvd ,and watched it over the week end. It really helped alot. I think I can get along ok now. Boy was I doing some stuff ass backwards. I have the create 8 and the plug in. So,,,,,,,,,,Wish I had bought the studio version now. Melodyne is really a DAW recorder/mixer in itself. Amazing what all it can do.
