Default Make all dialogs follow theme background (etc.) colors

As listed by Breeder, seven years ago in then v4.11 pre thread... I have also added some new dialogs which weren't listed there.

These windows don`t react to Window background, Window edit background and Window list background color options:
  • Dynamic split
  • Click Source Properties
  • Nudge/Set items
  • Scale Finder
  • Customize menu/toolbars
  • Transient Detection settings
  • External timecode synchronization
  • FX Chain Window
  • Parameter Modulation
  • Track/item/input/monitor FX window
  • JS FX interface (both plugin and code edit mode)
  • ReaPlugs (of course!)
  • Browser in Media Explorer (Explorer based)
  • Track Recording Settings
  • Quantize Events
  • Humanize Notes
  • Transpose MIDI
  • Event/note Properties
  • Add text/sysex/bank/program event
  • Scale finder
  • Edit ornament/custom notation/lyric
  • Create tuplet
  • Enter chord
  • Notation display quantization (and About display quantization)
  • Preferences
  • Project Settings
  • Every window from File menu (Render to file, Save live output to disk (bounce), Queued renders, Consolidate tracks, Export project MIDI, Batch file converter)
  • Add Marker
  • Insert Time Signature Marker
  • Edit Time Signature
  • Jump to time/marker/region
  • Insert tracks
  • Snap/Grid Settings
  • Metronome Settings
  • Take Comp Name
  • Locking settings
  • Peaks display settings
  • Export configuration
  • Advanced UI/system tweaks
  • Add joystick MIDI
  • Advanced Disk I/O Options
  • More information about displaying multiple media items in a single MIDI editor
  • Show available decoder information
  • ReWire Slave Project Settings
  • Add control surface
  • Add external editor
  • ReaScript user input dialog
  • ReaScript console
  • [developer] Debug console

I have a faint, tingling, fluttering of hope that this could happen for v6 given all of the attention we've seen lately for this topic.

Bonus points if the Reaplugs could be included. Just imagine it: Everything in Reaper looking semi-consistent.

I'm going to (predictably) add a HUGE
+1
to this!

That would satisfy about 80-90 percent of my theme creation gripes.

Aw alright then, especially if it slows down the never ending stream of "Reaper looks like $hit" threads.

+1 of course, but I doubt it's happening until the next iteration of Windows rolls around or there is a shakedown in the DAW wars.

Friendly bump before Reaper 6 eventually hits, would be nice to have this sorted out then! There'd finally be at least a bit more consistency to the UI then, in a way...

@EvilDragon
Did I miss the FX-Chain-window in your list? Especially with darker themes, this screams blindness into my eyes.

Over a year later, my hopes have definitely faded. It boggles my mind that this has been a complaint since I started using Reaper ten-ish years ago and we haven't had so much as a peep from the gents upstairs.

At the uni 10 years ago, the professor teaching us a command line of unix once said a rhethorical question leading to a general amusement:

"I don't understand why websites need any graphical interface when all I need from them is to gather information."

I didn't liked this then and took me some time to come to an answer. That is: People are not machines but humans with human brains and emotions.

Our devs seem to be the same breed as this professor. But that's OK, everyone is good at something else. The problem is they probably don't realise this or don't care about this or I don't know. There is a lot of people who would gladly help, but they don't want it.

I'd honestly be okay with all of Reaper looking like that. IMO it's the inconsistency that drives people nuts, more than anything.

I agree that the inconsistency is a big problem.

But for the love, please no. If the developers literally have no interest in this, and it seems like they don't, at least give users the tools to sort this. Not the overly complex circus that the Reaper 6 theme is turning into. I don't see any of the most talented themers wanting to touch that, let alone the average every day user - and that's assuming they can actually figure it out.

Addressing this feature request not only helps with consistency (and removing eye bleach) it also helps the people dedicated to theming do better work. Everybody wins.

The problem is that giving us said tools requires them to take an interest in it. That's the entire FR - making the remaining windows use the theme rather than native controls.

Maybe their too busy working on their Cockos Reaper channel.

And making tools for user is even more work, not holding my breath.

We don't need user tools to fix this. Just a consistent color across all dialogs. It's getting ridiculous...

Sorry ED et al. Wasn't trying to hijack this with an additional request for more tools. Just meant organizing walter/non-walter/theme ways of sorting.

You are absolutely right and I hope the developers understand how important consistent GUI is across all windows and take a look at this.

Pretty much the reason I dont use any of the otherwise excellent user-made themes, the dialog colour inconsistencies can be jarring, esp with dark themes.

Cockos should hire me as a chef so they will have more dedicated time for coding.

I make mean scrambled eggs.
