Default Importing a Track from one song to another

Yes I am a “newbie” and here is my question. I have a track in a song that I want to import / copy in to another song – it has parts of a guitar solo I want to use. If this is possible, how do I go about it please? Denny

Several ways..
1. Main menu, Insert>Media File
2. Main menu, View>Media Explorer
3. Drag and drop into Reaper from the OS

Other ways too, but this should be enough to get you started.

My instructions would be for how you would import a media file of some sort, and no, you do not need to do anything prior.

If you want to duplicate an actual TRACK from another Reaper project, complete with FX and sends, I believe you would have both projects open at once (use "open project in new tab") then just copy/paste. I'm pretty sure that would work. I'm not at my daw to test it.

Copy/paste. Cut/paste would move it, not duplicate it.

Select the track, then look at the options in the Edit menu.

Open both projects as tabs.

Copy from one tab, paste to another - that's it!

Reaper can be pretty fiddly when it comes to copy/pasteing from on project to another. I had close to 40 tracks today that I tried to copy from on project to another and Reaper wouldn't do it. I wanted to copy them all at once to keep their routing in tact. I ended up making a track template of all the track and that worked fine.
