Default Still using a V3 theme - am I missing anything?

When V4 came out, I didn't really get on well with the default, so I stuck with the theme I was using (WT's lovely Blended). I was flicking through some themes the other day and noticed a few new little buttons and icons, and it struck me that there might be a few new V4 features or usability tweaks theme-wise that I'm not fully aware of.

Am I missing our on anything by sticking with an older "out of date" theme?

Coming from someone who has pretty much stayed with Default V3.0 through every update, the answer would have to be a resounding:

Yes.

I have installed XxX Reavolution 2, Analog API 4.00, Dark Side Imperial and RADO-V4, and I can tell you there are some really awesome differences.

Unfortuneately, you have to get used to each one and therein is my downfall.

I am so used to Default 3.0, I find myself going back to it, since it's comfortable.

One of these (I think RADO) required a few hoops to jump through, in order to set it up. It comes with a bunch of bells and whistles.

Well I'm in the same boat. I like the simplicity of R3 and it's easier on these old eyes. I also like the meters in R3, much more usefull for me.

Also I've got a lot of my own custom icons and they don't look right in R4. Not only that but R4 makes my smaller sized icons full sized.

I have no problem at all with how R3 looks, to me it looks just as good as R4.

There are a few things they aren't updating for R3 like the icons in the ME Track List. I wish they would fix that or provide us with the means to do it ourselves.

I'm just glad we can still use R3.

yeah you are missing a lot...

but why not just see for yourself?

it's easy to get a pile of popular themes from the stash and change them on the fly in reaper. If you don't like them, it's easy to delete them from your color themes folder.

Thanks Hopi, I've tried tons of them and I don't really like any - just stuck in my ways I guess!

I could have phrased it better, but my question wasn't "are there any cool Reaper 4 themes I should check out" but specifically:

"are there any new features that have been implemented since V4 that remain hidden in a V3 theme?"

I wasn't planning on changing, as I'm so used to working in my current theme, but with all the new MIDI changes, etc I just wanted to make sure I still had access to the full Reaper feature set within a V3 theme.

Hope that makes sense

I don't like the color scheme in V4.

I can dig it... the main theme I use is my own mod of one of the very first V4 default themes... modded to the point that it don't look like it at all... hahaha...

but the bottom line of course is use what you like to look at.

Yeah, that's one of the cool things about Reaper. It can look however you want it to look.
