Windows users: So... have anyone ever found a good workaround with Windows 10?
You know what i mean. You set your system to dark mode but most windows and dialogue boxes are still on white(Reaplugs). I've tried different high contrast themes from deviant art but they all look funky to me.
I hope to not spend a dime with a workaround because for Pete's sake, it's just a basic system setting. Sorry for my frustration. Keep safe everyone.

I came here to ask the same thing, I'm glad I'm not the only one! The white background in the FX window is literally the only thing stopping me from using Reaper. As someone who uses dark mode extensively in all editors, even in the browser ("Dark Reader" extension), having the instrument window be pure white just makes my eyes burn
I really don't understand what's causing this though, since the Windows 10 dark theme makes all parts of regular explorer windows dark. All of my other programs have the title bar dark as well, Reaper and Hyper-V are the only two that are not.
Personally I don't even care for things being pretty. All I want is for things to be dark so my eyes don't hurt.
So far I've found this https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=228668 as a possible workaround (uses Penumbra theme for Windows), but I'm a little worried about patching windows system files :\ Isn't there some simpler way that doesn't involve that?

System patching is no big deal with Penumbra. Just make sure you create a restore point just in case. I use Penumbra with Win 10 and Reaper looks amazing with dark menus that fir the overall theme.

I'm not really down to install a dark theme that could break my computer. I ended up doing this which helps slightly:
https://winaero.com/change-color-of-...in-windows-10/
You can change it to a darker color and have a slightly dark color for your selected title bar and it does help somewhat. There's still a bit of piercing white, but not as much at least

Same here. I don't want complex system modifications that could potentially break stuff.
Will try your suggestion later. Thanks everyone.

UPDATE: Themes displaying dark mode menus in Windows are also using a 3rd party Windows theme, dark menus are NOT provided from a Reaper theme. I do not suggest the Windows theme route: it’s slightly difficult to install, manage, update, and can be unstable when Windows itself updates.
I suggest Stardock WindowBlinds instead, which I feel is safer and much more customizable. Though it is not free.

Look into this theme and it’s thread:

Another theme using the aforementioned Windows theme trick:

I tried out the "complex" stuff a few days ago. It wasn't all that hard, and trust me if I can do it anyone can do this. So far nothing is broken, everything is dark and lovely.
"right on for the darkness"

Use Secure UX as described in the thread to install a DarkTheme.
SecureUX does not patch Windows system files. So there is nothing that could break.

As an alternative to Penumbra (I felt the right click context menus didn't have enough contrast), this free theme is working well enough for me so far, including windows stuff. Sometimes there is some text that is too dark or a windows program that looks weird (if not color configurable), but since I am familiar with those texts or programs already it's ok for me. The benefit of a darker Reaper is very worth it for me.

After I saved some standard changes to the theme via typical windows "Personalize" options. Loading this moded theme via SecureUX, rather than via windows, produces the correct results.
A little too dark in the "greyed out" texts but seems ok overall. BTW, does anyone know an editor with which I could edit the theme? I found just one on github "msstyleEditor" but couldn't get any use of it yet.
