Q: How to show Spectral Peaks for ONE track only
Hey everyone,
I have never been able to work out how to display spectral peaks for just one track. Calculating for all tracks takes a long time which is unnecessary when you are just looking at one track.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!
-Dax.

I select the track and item before clicking Create Spectral Edit. If only working on a small piece, I additionally split the item into a smaller chunk first rather than have the entire item be in spectral display mode.

Thanks Philbo, but I was asking about Spectral Peaks as opposed to Spectral Edits.
Thanks, tho!

I have "Prevent spectral peaks" for all tracks, except for the ones that where I occasionally want spectral peaks, mainly vocals. As yet I have not checked if this can be set up for the default track, I assume and hope it can.

Hey Fabian. Hmmm, good idea, perhaps the trick is to leave Spectral Peaks on at all times, but also set Prevent Spectral Peaks all tracks, then just toggle it when I need it on one track.
Can probably set up an action for this.
Seems like a lot of hassle, though. Surely there's a better way.
Thanks Fabian!

You're welcome.
This is the way I do it now.
Maybe there is a better way. There really ought to be...

Hey Fabian. I tested my idea, but it basically only works once, because there is only Prevent Spectral Peaks, but no Allow Spectral Peaks action. I've sent out a distress beacon and hope to hear back.

Also curious for example, how to turn on spectral peaks for selected items.

Hello Shady,
My best tip for finding anything in REAPER is:
1) Use the Actions window and type in a search for "spectral peak"
2) Right-click everything
All the best,
Dax.

Spectral peaks are shown per track, no individual item selection possible.

Ahh yes, true. Spectrogram can be displayed per-item, but not spectral peaks.

Dax, did you manage any custom action solution for the one track only spectral peaks? I was thinking about a Cycle action.
Select the track for which you want the spectral peaks. Invert selection and prevent spectral peaks on those. Invert selection again and show spectral peaks. Conditional cycle action, so that the prevent spectral peaks setting would be checked before engaging/disengaging. I have no idea if that would work, but could check that...darn, not quite, can't manage the track selection swap with that.
