Default How do you send tracks to a "rear bus" with 2 compressors (left and right)?

I tried doing it with 2 CLA-76 and using the pinouts, but the pin-outs don't stay mono. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

If there's an old thread, please point me to it. Thanks.

Ignore my specifics. I can't get the pins to work properly.

I need to a stereo send the mix to 2 x 1176 on 2 separate tracks.

I'm not sure you need the pins at all if you just want to send the audio (in stereo) to two separate tracks each (also in stereo) with stereo 1176 on it.

If you want to send Left to one track and Right to the other, send 1 > 1/2 and 2 > 1/2 for the two tracks. This way you are not playing with pins. Or just disable the opposite pin on both tracks and double up the remaining pin.

This is assuming the CLA 1176 is not accepting mono audio.

The solution in the reply just before this should work fine, but to simplify it [assuming I'm understanding what you're trying to do] all you need to do is have one extra track that doubles the audio from whatever channels you want, then insert two instances of the cla76 on that track, changing the pin routing to channel 1 in and out for one and cannel 2 in and out for the other.

And that's assuming you're specifically going for unlinked stereo compression. If you're not, you can just use one instance normally.

Is this a surround sound question or does "rear bus" here refer to using a surround capable board for parallel compression in stereo. ie. that "rear bus" is being routed to the front.

You can increase the track channels in a Reaper track beyond 2 for surround. Six track channels for 5.1, for example. (You can add track channels in the pin window too.)

If parallel processing is the goal, you can route as many instances of a parallel bus as you please in Reaper.

No, it's a way to feed the audio into itself where the quiet parts kind of fill in the gaps of the music with "upward" compression. Probably not the best way of explaining it.
