Default Problem midi controller and VST

Hi everyone,

i own the Shadow SH-075 midi controller

https://www.guitarsite.com/files/Shadow-SH-075.jpg

and i would like to use it to play some VSTs with my Reaper. I did some testing with a VST for electric bass but no sound is produced.

I simply connected the MIDI OUT of Shadow ( aluminum box ) to the input of my sound card ( Behringer UCA202), using this adapter MIDI-to-minijack:

https://www.excelvalley.com/it/prodo...cavi-breakout/

Unfortunately, i don't hear any sound.

Could anyone help me understand how i should adjust the inputs and outputs in the track after i have entered the VST as FX ?

In spite of its cheapness of UCA202, i can say that for what i have to do i have no problems recording the guitar. The problem is now the midi sound, as if Reaper didn't recognize my Shadow controller.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance !!

I don't have any experience with this sort of breakout cable, but reading a bit about them, it seems that they must be wired to work with specific manufacturers. So there are many different versions. Are you sure that the cable you have is compatible with your Shadow?

That cable is a kind of reducer that is part of the kit of this mini expander Midiplus

that many keyboard players know and that can be played from any midi keyboard, and my Shadow of behaves as if it were a midi keyboard and in fact it can easily play that expander but when I use it with REAPER it doesn't produce any sound.

Hmmm, well even on the first site you linked, there are several different models that only work with certain devices...

I also tried it with a Nord stage and it works.

Well I'm not sure how to fix this, although to me it doesn't sound like a Reaper problem. If you have the means, however, I recommend getting a cheap interface that has a MIDI input and at least one XLR/1/4" combination input.

You've probably solved your problem in the meantime. I also own the Shadow SH075 and I too am interested in playing VSTs with the Shadow. Have you bought an external sound card with midi port ? If so, are you okay ?

Best regards !
