I think graphically ((SOLARIS)) can improve a lot ... I do not think it's original, as it has many errors ... and honestly is not practical ...

It looks very nice ! Very serious look. Solaris fan too here but I think it's true it's not the most ergonomic and efficient.

That's not the original SOLARIS. The original SOLARIS had blue lines around the faders. I think the original is the greatest DAW mockup I have ever seen.
Your new design looks quite nice. The dark, smooth look is easy on the eyes.
Want to know what I really want out of themes, Albert, and why I started using Imperial the day it came out and still use it today? It is different mixer and track panel options that are vastly different from each other and good for different purposes. I love the contrast between the look of my bus tracks and the look of my normal tracks. It is a must for me.

I went to my grave using reaper 4.99999999999999999999999999999991 at the ge of 92....
Albert: I too am a Solaris fan, as you know, but I am happy to forget it if you say it would not satisfy you in its present form.
So how about that R5 mockup....?
Xmas present? It doesnt even have to say "Reaper 5" on it.
One question that just occurred to me - is it possible in the mixer view to have the FX bar become a drop-down window?
I like the idea of not having to look at a shopping list of plugs at the top of every track ALL the time. The only time I ever need to see all the plugins on a channel is when I want to actually DO something with them.
IF this is possible, it would clean up the mixer a great deal.

No it's perfect and practical. Solaris could have been the best theme for any DAW. But it's obvious you have no intention of ever finishing it so it's time to move on.
Oh and your latest mock up ? The colors are ugly. Don't waste your time.

Albert, Very nice(in my opinion, from a designers perspective). Don't let the negative comment(s) change your vision of what You want to do. It's really sad that you share your hard work that you obviously put time and effort into, and some of the comments are negative, relating to another project idea that you openly shared, and worked on for FREE. If the people spouting negativity want something finished, how about instead of telling Albert what he should be doing with his time, take some of your own time and learn to do it yourself.

Well, you're wrong. The mockup you posted is EXACTLY what a decent amount of people liked very much. I just don't get it why you don't seem to have any intention to actually finish it, despite people donating money for you to finish it (Teksonik first and foremost)... That's not nice.

Perhaps the screenshots are just photoshop mock up and albert don't want to program the walter stuff to place each layer in his place?
Or... Or
It's just a way to tell to the dev team "hey guys, look at me, I can do this... "

Give the guy a break, people! Projects like that take a lot of time. If the dev loses interest, then it's his/her right to do so. If you feel betrayed because you were pitched an idea that didn't happen, that's your problem, not his. I hope this doesn't culminate in some weird culture that you have to complete every project you talk about or show on this forum. At least he made something that wasn't here before, even if it's just a mockup. Quit hijacking every thread talking about solaris, even if you think this guy's mockup to theme ratio is too low. Behaving like that takes the wind out of someone's sails. And that's not nice.
@albert: I like R-Zero, but I think it might be too dark and with too little contrast.

Not nice (IMO) is giving someone money and THEN start claiming you gave them money to do something.
Albert made it quite clear he has no intention (for now) to finish the skin. It's his prerogative to do so. People b*tchin'about it or (more or less) trying to bribe him into finishing it is only counter productive I think.
On another note I agree with the notion he wants to wait for v5 and see what that brings. Right now you can only skin so much and if you have a certain style most of it will come out more or less the same. We'll have to wait and see what v5 will bring..

Just playing Devil's Advocate here: Not finishing something that people donated money toward completion could also lead to people thinking, "Why donate money to THIS project if he's not going to finish it?"
Albert, I love and use the ProTools theme. Will there be any updates or is it finished?

Not a fair comparison, phones don't look like that anymore but consoles still do

Phones are not just phones Anymore, they do so much more things
Daws are not just mixing console anymore, they... You get the idea
Have you ever seen a folder track on an analog mixing desk? You click on the button and the 8 children tracks jump out.
Can MiDI pass through an analog console?
Have you ever seen a mixing desk with 64 audio channels per fader?
My opinion is : DAW is digital, so it has to look like this.
You're watchin it on a screen, so it has no "good" reason to look like a real thing (imho).

No-one is donating towards completion of anything IMO. You donate to gain access to the project as-is and there is no guarantees given nor promised towards anything in the future.
Donating does not entitle you to anything but the download link (and in this case any updates which MAY get released).

This looks really nice albert. I work in a relatively dark room and I think this would work really well. The dark, smooth look that you are creating here has a vibe I could really warm up to. Lots of creative track layout options please (if you find that kind of thing fun, or course).

The new theme looks great! I'd suggest something to separate the tracks so the items of each track are easily identified. Maybe something like a soft indentation or similar. Not a must. I really like it.
Albert, is this to become a new theme, or is it just a concept idea?

Remember OSK/OS9?
I was on the Tandy Coco3 (before I went Amiga) and published a "book" on OS9 which went the rounds via BBS!!!! Those were the days!
Usenet was a novelty, we lived forty to a bed in a paper bag by the side of the road....
