Default Enough Talk

Short and sweet synth number. Something to work on, I think.
If anybody would be kind enough to offer some feedback, that would be great.
There's no effects, nothing added. Just the drums and 4 vst synth tracks.

Thank you.

You already said it - short and sweet synth track. I agree. Nicely done.

sounds a little opaque to me... like there's a real long reverb coming out of the synth, especially that low pad

the sounds are good, but it seems like we need more room to breathe

this is after first listening sober -sounded awful dense, then listening after three beers... the three beers version sounded better, but still too dense

.

don't know... I'm trying to calibrate myself to the best stuff I can find on youtube, and that seems to be trending towards lots of air in the mixes --terrific sounds, but not many of them, and not much reverb

I do quite a lot of three beer listening. And more, given a chance. What would you recommend?

maybe it's just a matter of turning that pad down a few db, and turning the bass up a few db...

after listening again just now, the pad seems plenty wide...

don't know, it's a nice tune, worth fooling around with... maybe it needs a bass track, one that matches the kick drum...

ispose I'd transpose that jittery bas up an octave, pan it left, add a more conventional (rhythmically) bass track, and turn the pad down a little

.
and maybe the music is saying exactly what you want it to say, so you should leave it the way it is

here's a piece of anne Dudley's score for "pushing tin"...

nice pads mixed pretty far back aas a backdrop for all that other stuff

anne Dudley's "he's pushing tin" sounds kinda cluttered, but it's old...

I keep yapping about "air in the mix" and the song below is a modern example of what I mean... I don't like the song all that much, but...
.

is this sort of arrangement a fad? ...don't know...

I'd like to know how many million dollars' worth of effects machinery were used on this thing

but it's the kind of sound I'd try for if I was a synth player

.

hate to keep badgering you
