Default Help! on Pt file trans

Hi,

could have sworn i did this before...but i have a DVD of audio files and PT9 sessions that i think came from a mac.
Reaper wont import these audio files no matter what i do.
On the DVD they have no extension...I tried to use a batch ext renamer to set them to .aiff or .wav and Reaper wont import them.

Help!!

On it's own, Reaper definitely won't import PT files. There's a forum member here who writes a DAW file conversion program. I THINK it will do it for you.

Oh sorry... THAT should be possible, but I haven't done it myself. Is there a 'raw' audio file import in Reaper?

AFAIK, you can either ask Runaway [AATranslator] to see about getting the import done... or you would have to open the PT session in PT and then one by one, consolidate the audio files and export them as aiff or wav... then those will drop right into reaper for sure... have done that a few times

my suggestion is PM or email to Runaway on this forum.

Hi,

Wow thats very kind thx Runaway..i hate to bother u because i rarely have to do it this way..this guy who burned the DVD is the studio parter of a guy that died. 51 yrs old ..playing basketball with his son out front his house ,fell hit his head and died! Good grief.Anyhow, the parter is really no help here ..so i appreciate the offer.

and thx hopi..i been at it all day..and i think the deal is that SOME are sd2 and some are aiff but somehow in the transfer or somethin from mac to PC im losin or corrupting the mac resource fork.

I tried this program called sdTwoWave and it seemed to work, though when i brought the wavs to Reaper they were way too fast.
Thanks for your help

Guido

The potential for this future hassle is why I always hated the SD2 format. It's likely that the program (sdTwoWav) did not correctly detect the original sampling rate for your files and so wrote the wrong one in the header of the newly converted wav. This means reaper is probably playing back a 44.1 kHz file at 48 kHz or the other way around. If you can remember what sample rate you recorded the sd2 files at it looks like you can manually enter it in when you convert with sdTwoWav.

The pt session will have that info and AAT can convert the sd2 files but if all you have are complete tracks of audio (rather than lots of clips/regions etc) then plush2's suggestion would be the simplest.

Edit: either way let me know if I can help
