"Close Gaps" option or more time stretch actions

I've been having a play with more radical drum editing techniques lately and the dynamic split system is a real help with that. But what I could really use is a feature akin to Cubase's "Close Gaps" function, whereby audio segments are time-stretched to close any gaps.

Also, although I can timestretch audio segments manually, I can only do a single track at a time. Which makes editing very time consuming. If timestretching could be applied to grouped items that would be great.

So yeah, nothing groundbreaking here. Just a few added options that would be helpful.

I've had some more ideas so I'm giving this a bump.

One feature in Cubase which I genuinly adore is the "Audio Warp" feature. However in Cubase it's not possible to warp more than one track at a time. Making it's usefulness for drum editing somewhat limited.

Now I'm not gonna suggest adding a similar or even hotrodded version of Audio Warp to REAPER, however what I would like to see is the ability to timestretch multiple tracks. Combined with the ability to timestretch/shrink two tracks which directly adjoin one another. Or to put it another way; You split a track, and by dragging the split point you stretch the proceeding clip and shrink the following. This is basically all Audio Warp does anyway.

if Im understanding you right, you can do this now! just a) split a piece of audio - select both resulting items - hold alt and drag the boundry between them and both pieces will warp. This can also be done on multiple tracks at once, no problem ...

but. you have to then go and stretch at ever split no? and both sides move...
so if you split a whole drum track, you could be at it all day.

Which leads me back to wanting timestretch applicable to grouped items.

Drum editing is an very time consuming process to get right and I rarely have the patience for it. But I've yet to see an automated or even semi-automated system that works well enough to save me a significant amount of time.

Hmmm, I run Reaper on Linux at home and this doesn't work for me. In fact Alt+Drag seems to be broken completly under WINE. Alt+Drag actually drags the entire application window across the screen. o_0
