Default Item Waveform Reflects Current State, Post Effects

Is there a way for the Waveform to be displayed post track effects?

I'd love to be able to see what my compression is doing to the waveform, but I don't want to render (destructive...kind of) the track to find out.

I just use the track rendering for this if I ever want to have a visual guide for the processing being done. You can always just delete the resultant file from the project folder afterwards.

3 ways I know of to see what compression is doing to your waveform

Smexoscope

GVST Gcomp

Fabfilter Pro-C

Thanks.

I really feel like at the least the Parent/Folder track should reflect the results of child track processing. Like showing what its output render would look like. Instead of just piling the waveforms of the child tracks on top of each other.

I know you should just use your ears, but I think it'd be helpful to get visual feedback as well. Especially for learning about compression and all the settings for it.

Thanks, for those links Magic!

I didn't know that about GComp. And, it's already in my arsenal.

The Smexoscope is a nice alternative too.

FabFilter Pro-C is a bit out of my budget though. It looks very nice as well.

I have a Smex chain that puts one before the effects then after it so I can see both waveforms.
