Default Zooming and Scrolling settings.

After a lot of thought I think I have finally come up with a good setup for zooming and scrolling. These might even be great defaults for Reaper. If you have any questions about how I'm doing a specific action just ask. I hope it helps.

Code:
prefs / Editing Behavior / vertical zoom center

	Vertical Zoom Center
		Track at center of view
		Top Visible Track
		Last Selected Track
	x	Track under mouse cursor

	Horizontal zoom center
		Edit cursor or play cursor
		Edit cursor
		Center of View
	x	Mouse cursor

SELECTING__________________

Shift+drag Razor select items (deselect if nothing selected)
ctrl+click Deselects all if empty area is ctrl/clicked

ZOOMING__________________

F1 Zoom project
F2 Zoom project with taller tracks

left drag Marquee zoom items
shift+left drag Marquee select items
ctrl+left drag Marquee add to item selection

ctrl+mousewheel vertical zoom in/out mousewheel
alt+mousewheel horizontal zoom in/out mousewheel
shift+mousewheel vert/horiz zoom together	mousewheel

w horizontal zoom width

alt+click zoom item under cursor
alt+i View: Toggle zoom to selected items
alt+t zoom selected tracks

alt+up zoom in vertical
alt+down zoom out vertical
alt+right zoom in snap to playback cursor
alt+left zoom out snap to playback cursor

z undo zoom
x redo zoom

SCROLLING_________________

Home Custom: Go to start of project click bar (goes to top and start)
End Transport: Go to end of project (goes to end, no scrolling)

mousewheel scroll vertical mousewheel
shft+alt+mousewheel scroll horizontal mousewheel
ctrl+home scroll to top of project
ctrl+end scroll to bottom of project

left scroll view left
right scroll view right
up scroll view up
down scroll view down

That's quite a lot of shortcuts dedicated to zoom and scroll...you're using all that?

Here's mine:
1: toggle zoom selected items
2: screenset custom zoom level 2
3: screenset custom zoom level 3
4: zoom project
tab: tog zoom time selection
5: endless encoder for track selection
6: dragging on the ruler, right click drag in arrange for short hand scrolling and navigator for all else
7. oh, and (shift +) backspace for the indispensible restore previous/next zoom/scroll position actions (for when I mess up my view and need to get back to the one I was just looking at)

Mainly I find I use a couple different comfortable zoom levels for most tasks, so just set them up in screensets for quick access.

Which actions do you have assigned to ctrl+home/end? I've needed that on occasion and can't find an action for it.

I didn't like what seemed to me like a mishmash between the default zoom and scroll commands.

I just did this:
Scrolling scrolls (horiz or vert - mouse wheel or 2 finger on trackpad))
Command-scroll zooms (timeline or track height depending on focus)
Option-command-scroll zooms waveform height (via custom action)

That's it. Never looked back.
