Default Two Questions about Snapping

1.) Is there a setting to make dragging the time selection to snap to media item edges? EDIT: Solved!

2.) Is there a way to have both Relative-to-Grid and regular grid snapping enabled at the same time?

(xposted from general forum. This may be a better place for it)

I there is an action to create a time selection from the selected media item
which would pretty much do the same thing, ...yes?

Not quite. It would work in situations where auto-punch ins need to be the length of the item selected, but if your punch in is longer/shorter, then you have to make additional adjustments. Also it doesn't work well is situations where there isn't a nearby item.

I was hoping for the ability to drag the selection start point and have it snap the way other elements that snap do, without additional actions/modifiers.

there is an action to set the loop points and the time selection to be the same... so you can solve that problem

Solution is to activate the check box for "snap to edges of media items on any track to "cursor" and/or "selection. I had just misread that.

In the MIDI editor -
I think when you enable relative snap - it does enable both relative and "regular" snap.
It does for me anyway. I always want -only- relative snap, but if I'm not careful (or zoomed out too much) then it will snap to the grid that I've set.

I'm not sure if this also applies to media items in track view.

Yes! The way it's working in the MIDI editor is the way I'd prefer for it to work with media items in track view. I really dislike having to switch on/off the relative grid option.
